Thanks for that list of numbers - I've blacklisted all of them and was called by two. They won't leave a message and say who they are!

I called the number and got a recording that stated "Your call cannot be completed because this number is on hold and not yet activated".  If it's not activated how can they be making calls from it?

says they are a debt collection co.  The message asks for a return phone call.  I have no debt and I won't be calling them back.

I've got calls from the same phone numbers.

I've gotten phone calls from all the phone numbers Bill listed. Something odd is going on and it should be illegal. I'm on the Do Not Call Registry

Does that mean what it sounds like?

I think someone has invented a program that spoofs calls for unused lines and SEVERAL morons are using this program - debt collectors, dubious charities - but, heck, short version, if you have to pay for the call - NEVER NEVER ANSWER.

I've been logging calls since 2005; never seen this area code before this month
If you Google "area code 855" you'll find out that 855 was put into service 10/2/2010. But it's no different from ANY toll-free number (800, 866, 877, 888)--the charges are paid for by the party who is called instead of the caller.

I have been getting calls from 855 number, usually once a day:

they usually ring few times, hang up. Where is the best place to file a complaint against them? ftc.gov?

Sorry for there luck.  I also wish you can report these numbers to make them stop calling.

Getting unwanted harrassing phone calls from 855-769-9872 and 855-703-7107 on Sunday.  This is most inappropriate and I want them stopped

Same here - both numbers called interrupting a peaceful Sunday afternoon.  Rolled to answering machine and left no message.  VERY irritating, to say the least.  Seems like I get TONS more unwanted calls that I EVER did before the "Do Not Call" registry went into effect.

Sunday, 5:55PM.  Phone rang......did not answer.  I am fed up with all these calls.  What can be
done about it?

These scammers have interupted our weekend twice. They are using 855-769-9872 and 855-814-9439. We are continually reporting to FCC. If phone carriers can't stop these robbers, then the phone companies need their licenses revoked.
