- Annsomeone stated they where from legal support service.
- Kenneth Smith replies to Kenneth SmithI finally reached a live person today at this number. And after investigation I found that they are a debit collection agency out of Albany New York. They are attempting to collect on debts that are any where from 2-18 years old. I discovered that they were attempting to collect on a debt that I had over three years ago and since removed from my credit history. They will indicate that they are a legal company but they are not they are a debt collection agency and have no authority to make indications that they can render legal actions against anyone.
- MarkThis is a scam agency....DO NOT FALL FOR THIS! It is fraudulent!

- CMI was in an abstract panic when I got a local call from someone stating that he was going to serve me "legal papers" -- that this was an appointment scheduled by folks at 855-775-8699 and he provided a case number to reference. I promptly called the number this "process server" gave me. The person on the line was very forceful and said that legal action is pending. I needed to settle the account BY TODAY and that I needed to secure these arrangements or his firm will pursue legal remedy. His settlement was a whooping $800 +
When I said I could not meet this obligation today, he instructed me to sign the papers I was about to receive by this "process server". I promptly hung up because it appeared that the resolution would not be reached. I guess I was too hasty in my ending of the call because shortly after, this person called back and gave me a different number to have my attorney call him back -- supposedly, this was his direct line. After doing preliminarily research, this is NOT a legit company. I did some digging and found some key pieces of the equation. Number one: This is not the company the lender has outsourced to do the debt collection on my outstanding matter. Second: THEY ARE SLICK. They know some key facts and even have my correct SSN (scary), however, they did not have all of the facts pertaining to the original debt, and DEAL BREAKER of the century item #3: I called back to try to ascertain who they were and other important facts/contact people's names. I never spoke with a live person again! They are scam artists for sure. They are sounding very convincing, they have regular American accents, they seem believable. And another strange coincidence...right after I hung up with them, some company called me and stated that they could help with past debt --that they were some debt relief company. A total and complete bunch of B.S. for sure!! What a true waste of time dealing with layers of bogus "help" to then assist with bogus collection agents! Those of us that have been down and out and had no choice but to work with the subprime lending market have become a major target!! We are now reduced to work with the bottom feeders of the financial industry! I am not proud to admit that I've made some poor financial choices in the past and hope I don't have to go back there again. These are down-right predatory practices!! Wishing you all the best!!- Call type: Debt collector
- Dana| 1 replyThanks for the heads up on this specific caller. I almost made a mistake of calling them thinking it is legit. The person who left a message did sound American... Left the 855 phone number, and a case number as well. She said she'll be dropping by at my place of residence, and if I'm not around, they will be looking for me at my place of employment with a special request of having the presence of my supervisor as witness that I have been served. WOW!!!!! Seriously?!? These people are getting good. They need to be reported to a soecific government agency that handles all these international scams.
By the way, the caller ID that was registering on my phone says it's BLOCKED. I screen all my phone calls. If it's a number I do not recognize, I never pick it up. There's just too much scans out there. If they're calling due to urgency, they will leave a message.- Caller: 855-775-8699
- Elspeth replies to DanaAny time you get a call from someone saying they're going to serve you papers, that automatically defaults them to the "scammers" list. Process servers/sheriff's departments, etc, do NOT give a heads up that they are going to serve or arrest anyone!
- ErinThese people called my cell phone and it said "PRIVATE NUMBER" so I did not answer. After checking the voice mail, it said the same thing as all the other posts here. This is a legal something-or-other that will be dropping by my place of employment or my home and I have been legally notified. They gave me the number 855-775-8699 and a case number and I promptly looked it up online and I'm glad I did! It did sound very legit, but as soon as I realized they were filing against a "Thomas McCall", and addressed "Thomas" in the voice mail, I knew something was up, because that is my last name, hyphenated, and I'm female! I didn't intend on calling them back, and again I am so glad I looked it up!

- DD| 1 replyHow do I get these people to stop calling and harassing me and other members of my family. I have no outstanding loans, etc. I have no idea who they are. They are calling, giving me a case number and said they were coming to my house, have ID and I was also going to go to jail. They asked me to verify my SS number….which I refused. Why would I give out this information? He then said my SS number to me and asked if it was mine. I said no and not saying it is. How do these people have my personal information? His name was Michael Hall and said he was from Niagra Arbritration. Who are they??? They do scare me. I did send an email to the BBB and Atty General. What else can I do? I want it to stop and clueless as to who they are, what they want, etc. They have called several times in the past couple days. The numbers are either blocked or come up different each time. The one number is 855-775-8699. The other numbers are 614-848-9778, also 614 – 848-9775 with the name of Elvis Barreto with that number and the other number is 716-236-9731
- Alfalfa replies to DDThe Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:
•is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
•refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
•asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
•exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
•Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.•Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
•Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
•Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
•Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.
