- BigA replies to Office ManagerYour employee is the target of a "process server" extortion scam. These are criminals calling.
One of the tricks they use is to call your family, friends, neighbors and/or places of employment (past or present or both) to create panic and embarrassment so that their intended victim calls them and they can scare that person into paying their extortion money. They often call people that have never even been associated with you because they get erroneous information off of the internet.
First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: http://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.
List of State AG’s offices: https://800notes.com/faq/attorney-general - jrcReceived a call on 8/25 at 11:45 AM. Didn't actually get to listen to the VM until at least an hour after the VM was left. The VM state:
"This is Vince Moretti (???) with legal support services. The reason for this call is to notify you within the next 45 minutes we will be in route to deliver you legal documentation. This is in regards to sealed legal documents we received under your name and social security number. This is a notice to serve you with intent to appear in court. For safety precautions you need to keep all large animals and weapons secured in your property. For safety precautions we may be accompanied with a uniformed officer. If you have any questions or concerns or would like to reschedule this delivery you may contact 855-786-6679...855-786-6679. You have officially been notified."
It was a live person with no noticeable accent. The man never said my name or who the supposed complaintant is. So although it did cause me panic at first I looked the 855 number up and didn't find much but when I went onlie and researched Legal Support Services I found other numbers up and in looking at those numbers it seems they have been using this tactic for a long time now. I feel it is a group that has bought a supposed debt and that they are trying to scare you into calling back and agreeing to pay whatever. I would suggest not calling them back b/c groups like this have ways of getting you to agree or say "Yes" and they record the discussion and use your "Yes" in other recordings and make it sound like you agree to the debt and agree to pay when all you have done is verified a name or address. They probably will call all numbers related to you in the past and use same tactics to embarrass you into calling them back. Tell your relatives in advance and have them not verify anything on the phone.
Personally I'm getting sick of these people doing this. I have worked with debt consolidations groups twice now in the past to get all of my debts cleared up and am almost done and caught up. I keep getting calls that look like they are from local numbers and it turns out to be something totally else. It is just getting worse and worse. If I owe something I'll pay it but it must be provided to me in writing. Hope my posting helps.- Caller: Legal Support Services

I called the number the next day, and I talk to someone. When I asked what is the company name, she just said they are legal support services and wouldn't tell me their location. When she asked me for my home phone number so that she can verify why they called us, I told them no I am not giving you our phone number as I can tell that you are scammers.

- Venus replies to nikkiJust got the same call and I called and asked who it was they said quick loans. I never did quick loans in my life. I said who is the person that is asking for the $ and they said an under writing company. She was someone who didn't speak English very well. I told her she was a scam and she said good luck in court and hung up on me. DO NOT GIVE A CC NUMBER TO THESE PEOPLE. It's a total scam. My caller is said a number in Trenton NJ but when I called back it was an 855 number.
