Green Tree Servicing LLC - mortgage company - bought mortgages from such companies as Bank Of America

Green tree Mortgage Servicing. They bought my loan from Citimortgage as of today, 1 April. I didn't answer. They left a 'welcome to Green tree' message.

Got a call from this number and I didn't recognize it.  Googled it, found this page and in fact my mortgage had recently been bought by GreenTree so I figured it was legit.  Returned the call.  Someone answered without identifying himself or his company, even after I asked him for the above.  He then simply asked me if my mortgage had recently been bought recently from Citi Mortgage and asked "didn't you get a welcome letter".  "Yes I did", I replied, "so why did you call?"   His reply, "I guess we're wondering if you sent in your payment".  I used my online banking account to send funds electronically on last week, ell before the due date of April 1 (and, by the way, isn't there a 15 day grace period)?   He asked for my account number, which I didn't have with me, but asked him why he didn't know what it was since he had called me.  He said he would need more information to get that, like my FULL SSN.  I wasn't about to give that out and felt like hanging up, but I was starting to wonder if my electronic transfer went through so I did give out my  phone number and address -- which I am regretting.

Towards the end of the conversation I "guess" I felt more confident that he was in fact from GreenTree, and he pointed out that my mortgage qualified for a HARP, and asked if I would like to talk with an expert.  Sure, why not I thought.  "One moment..." and I was forwarded, again, to someone who didn't answer with his name or company and spoke with broken English.  At this point I was back to thinking this was all a phishing scheme and wished I hadn't given out any of my personal information.  I hung up and plan to find a phone number for Green Tree online and see if it matches what I called.

Overall impression....even if it IS legit, THE WHOLE CONVERSATION WAS COMPLETELY UNPROFESSIONAL and I'm left feeling angry at Citi Mortgage for selling my mortgage to what appears to be a shady business.
