I had a red screen tell me there had been an expiration of my Google password and I had been attacked by a virus. This 855 number was on the screen asking for user name and password. I called and asked who I was speaking to (Sam) and when I asked what company, he said Microsoft - maybe technical support, not sure.

"Sam" is a scammer.  Do not give him any information or access to your computer.

Red screen like Gretchen.  But how do  get rid of it?  I did call the number but refused to give access to my computer.  How do I get rid of the screen?

Disconnect the computer from the internet.  Clear out the cache and cookies.  You may have to restart in safe mode.  Get a browser that accepts addons that will block ads and things like Java which is where you got the problem in the first place.

Just froze my laptop. It's telling me to call the number. I hope they rot in hell!!!  Even hell is too good for these scammers.

I have had this message appear 2 times on my computer.    I also called the number the first time they called, and refused  to give them access.  I turned off the computer, and when I turned it back on, it was okay.  I really would like to know how to keep them away.  This last time, I just turned it off, and then on again.

I have had a pop-up on a blue screen from this number numerous times. It says Microsoft support on the blue part of the screen. I have to restart my computer to get it off. They should be able to put a stop to this. I had clicked on a page on FB when it happens.

This person freezes my home computer. I have to turn it off and leave it off, otherwise they freeze it again. I wish Microsoft could find a way to block these people.

Indicated I had a virus and my computer was not useable unless I called them.

I had my computer totally freeze up on me, I called this number on the screen, supposedly connected with Microsoft, They told me they were from Bubble PC and would have to go in to get the virus that was coming from Russia. I fell for this scam and ended up paying a total of 141.00 for them to repair my computer. They were calling from Canada. I got a call back 2 days later from Peter at Bubble PC phone # 718 942 7716 checking to see if everything was still working okay. 2 ladies in my area have had the same thing happen. I am really upset!

I also got red screen and couldn't get rid of it. Finally I opened Task Manager (Ctrl Alt Delete). Was able to get rid of it. I never called.

Haven't seen these for a while - same frozen computer and message as reported. Went to cache as recommended and closed browser, disconnected from internet. Turned off then on. Did not "restore". Cleared cookies and cached items. Seems ok now. Thanks for the guidance (Ontario Canada)

I clicked on an ad on Facebook and then my computer froze.  I called what I thought was Mac Technical Support, they took control of my computer, and then told me my firewall was damaged and tried to sell me "Symantec" firewall plans from $260-$500.  They asked for credit card information and I refused.  They told me my computer would not work until I purchased the firewall.  They did not add any spyware that I could tell and I ran malware program.  I am concerned whether they were able to download my documents.

Tech Support scam - just say no.  They defrauded my elderly aunt out of $$$.  This is the phone number that displayed on the popup that appeared informing her that her computer was infected and she needed to call this number for immediate online assistance from a certified Microsoft technician.
