This was a legitimate call from ADP, a division that performs background searches for new hires. I recently recommended someone to my company, and they used me as a reference on their application. I got this call out of the blue from someone with an Indian accent saying they were calling in reference to [person's name]. They gave a callback number and a case/reference number. I checked with my corporate recruiter, who confirmed that the call was legit, that the company uses ADP and their call center is in India. I called back, gave the case number, and was asked a few questions. I'm glad I called back and could give my friend a good reference. It's such a sketchy sounding message,  but was definitely legit.

This was a legit call from my ADP rep. ADP runs my company's payroll.
Call type is not unknown (there was not an option for "legit Call") she was responding to a question I had emailed her about my payroll. She did leave a message with her extension to call her back...

It is a legit ADP number, we use their services and they called me back, this number showed on the caller ID

This is a company used by corporations / businesses - in my case Johnson Controls is the company I applied with - to verify and conduct an initial phone interview. Total legit as I was expecting the call at a predetermined and set time and date.

Call from ADP? He hung up on me. Then call back and when I answered he hung up again. What's up with that?

855-845-7616 is outbound call line for ADP EZLabor Manager Time Clock Support. Legitimate.

This was a legit call from ADP screening service needing to do an employment verification on one of my employees.  I verified with the employee that they were expecting a VOE on them and my employee verified the call was legit and I could release information about them and then I called ADP back.  Yes, I spoke with someone with a heavy Indian accent, but very polite.

That would instill tons of confidence in me, knowing I was giving information to someone who just called out of the blue with an Indian accent. I hung up on them and then googled this number because I wasn't really sure who called. For some reason you don't have that problem of not being sure. If you were sure who called, then why did you google the number?

855-845-7616 ( February 2017 ) This number belongs to ADP.  They do payroll services, background checks, etc.  It is a person with an Indian location, but it's ADP not a scam.  Call was legitimate payroll issue I am having with employer.

This is a call from ADP employment verification services. It's a real call about a real job applicant. it is NOT SPAM.

This is a LEGIT NUMBER form ADP. They are hired by other companies for payrol and Human Resources INCLUDING Screening applicants.  ACCEPT THIS CALL!

don't know this # don't know any one with 800's # but they keep calling me. I put my name on do not call but these people still call!!!

ADP caused me to lose the election!!

This was a call direct from my ADP payroll rep.  Not their direct call back number, but apparently a generic outgoing number.  Was a legit call.

Received a call at my business: She said they were ADP verifying employment for someone I never heard of before. Heavy Indian accent and I could not tell what exactly she was talking about. I asked her one TEST question to call her bluff, "Who do you think you are calling?". She answered this with "This is ADP". I said, I did not ask you who you were. I asked you who you thought you were calling. She hung up. RED ALERT ... Scammer!

The phone rang once, then stopped. This appears to be an attempt to make me incur charges by calling the number back (the "one-ring scam"). This may be a scammer who spoofed a legitimate number for an overseas call center used by ADP, a very large human resources company with many small-business clients.
