- MADThey called me saying they were looking for someone (with the same last name as me). I was listed as a relative/contact for this person, who I don't know. I called the number they left and I asked them how my name got connected with this situation. The person they were looking for was wanted for fraud and my name was down as a "reference or backup". They couldn't tell me what "backup" meant. As I tried to ask more questions, the lady becaome very rude and wouldn't let me get a word in. She then told me I should get a lawyer. I asked for what, since I don't even know this person. She hung up on me.
The message left was from an inspector Dale. 855-863-4428. Ext. #304- Caller: Mccauley Davidson & Associates
- BS| 1 replyThis same number called me the other day for a friend of mine. Said they were being investigated for wire fraud & left this number & a case # for them to call back. They called from a blocked number I didn't answer then called right back a second later with a blocked number again which i answered this time where they left the information to have my friend call them back. I think it's a ruthless bill collector trying to scare people into calling them back! It was a lady who left # 855-863-4428 ext. 304!

- Alfalfa replies to BSThe Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:
is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.
Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

- spanky| 3 repliesAbout this company? They called left me a voicemail with information and I called back. I spoke to the same person who had left the vm. She was super nice very professional and took care of my situation. In fact by the end of December my official paid letter arrived and it officially stated on my credit report who they were and that they notified the credit bureau. Be patient and appreciate that they are not a collection company but an arbitration firm...spanky

- Geoff replies to babygirlNeed to work on that English a little bit there Babygirl. The Shills are lighting up this thread!!
Folks...Read all of these posts on this thread and then look into the mirror and ask youself if you would even remotely entertain the idea of handing over a single penny to these Backwood Bollywood Boiler Room Butt Heads.
A stranger calls over the telephone, with a funny accent native to India or pakistan, demands you give them your debit card number......No proof, no validation, no nothing, but with the threat of doing what is not even remotely legally believable, and expect to frighten you into handing over money. Tell them to Go To Hell and hang up.... - kay replies to buttercupThat doesn't even make sense. A bench warrant and get thrown in jail if you don't pay TODAY?
Those Clowns are actually professional Comedians doing a stand up boiler room routine song and dance trying to get someone to Blindly throw money in the Hat. The only thing dumber is anyone who would toss money at the hat. - Da Chitown Comic (and ex debt collector) replies to babygirlI'm gonna have fun with these guys. Just got done hangin' out with my buddy Demetri Martin. I am so in the mood, lol...
- slimntwinsmomYeap...... these people keep calling me saying the same thing. I know this is not true because I have been working on my credit and have paid all my debts. Just waiting for the next call I can answer.
