I got an exact call today. Sounds fishy to me. I never have health issues.

turns out it is legit, but why take my word for it, right?   ;-)

I'd say:  always call the number on your card when calling back!  but you knew that.

I just got the same call. I said yes to my phone number, since they had that already, hung up when they wanted my birthday. If the message is that urgent, send me a letter or email, this type of notification is just asking for mimics using it for phishing.

Yup I got it today too. They left a message (robot voice). They identified themselves as calling from Anthem Blue Cross, said they had "an important health reminder" for me (stated my name) and asked them to call me back at 855-874-7379 (said it was toll-free). My caller ID said the call came from "Pittsburgh PA" and the number was 412-723-5999. When you Google the Pittsburgh number, there's more info posted about the call. Supposedly it's for some "women's health check" message. But they want you to confirm a lot of personal info first (all asked by robot not human) and they give an 877 number "to opt out of future messages". If you look at some of the reports from other time periods, it appears this number has called Aetna members too (back in Oct 2010). At BEST this is a marketing company. At WORST it is a phishing scam (likely since they are asking people to confirm personal information like birthdates). Either way, the call didn't originate from an Anthem Blue Cross telephone number. Beware.

Arg. It seems they have called Kaiser members and Blue Shield members too. I haven't found a single post from anyone indicating that they have reached a human and that the call is legitimate. I have found postings where it seems like the caller ID number might be spoofed, because some posters said they hit call back rather than the number specified in the message. The person who answered the phone had no idea what they were talking about, and they had been receiving a bunch of similar calls from members of that same health insurance company (at that time, it was Aetna). I'm pretty convinced now that this is a scam.

I received a call from this number, which my husband answered.  It was all robot, and rather than give information, my husband got the callback number and told me about it.  I googled it and got to this page, and after reading it, opted instead to call Anthem Blue Cross directly rather than use the callback number.  Anthem confirmed that they did not try to call me and do not have toll-free numbers that start with 855.  They also said that their usual policy is to try to call their members again, rather than have their members call them back.

Exact same situation happened to me with exactly the same numbers.  Thanks to all of you -- I WILL NOT be calling them back.

Received the same message yesterday.
I was very unhappy, wandoring why would a insurance company calling to remind me to get health checks since I JUSTH had my annual last month.
And if their is a health issue, why my Dr. did call and a insurnace company would call me.
Good thing I found this post before calling the 855xxxxxxxx back.

Have received messages from this phone number a few times now also stating they are from Anthem. I will not be calling them back after seeing all of this.

very suspicious...of course I called the number on the back of my insurance card & couldn't get a real person. so i guess there is no way to contact anthem blue cross via phone to report this suspicious voice mail left by the robot at this number.

Blue Cross Blue Shield robo call saying "Are you more stressed in the new year? If so, here are some numbers you can call... blah blah blah."  Nothing major.

Same phone call - one to me - one for my wife.   Caller ID does NOT equal "Anthem" or anything that would exist IF this were a legit call.  

Likely robo-callling in geographies over and over and over.   The caller ID and the calling number will likely change over time - - - the content of their recording will be the same until everyone figures it out.

The phone number 855-222-8921. the caller id was 412-773-8572. It appears to be a mobile phone. Maybe the information was stolen.

I got a 412 call from caller saying they're Anthem asking for birthdate and want to verify who I am.  I hung up, called back and got the same computer asking for the same info.  I hung up.  I had a question on my healthplan, called the number on my card and asked them were they calling me yesterday and they said no. So It's BOGUS!  Also, they have no office in Pennsylvania that I know of.

These folks call my wife's job! this is bull crap.

I got a call today from pharmacists "working with my insurance company", they wanted to review my medications.  After asking me to verify my name they proceeded to ask my birthdate.  At this point I said you are wanting to give me information, not te other way around.  They hurried me off the phone, saying they would mail me something.
Looks fishy (phishy) to me.

Got a call from this number this morning.  Answer machine picked up and they hung up without leaving a message.

It's bogus.  My caller said he was with bc/bs of north Carolina and was an Engagement Specialist.  No such animal exists.  When I called back the phone was disconnected.

I'm getting the same calls, but actually connected to a human! The latest number that called me was 855.812.7814, they go my voice mail and it started out as a robot then a human connected telling me she was on behalf of "Analon?" for Anthem and to call back.

But days before that, I spoke to a human dude. He was pushing for me to verify my phone number, name, address. Before I agreed I wanted to know more about what he was calling about and what company he represented. He said it was legal heath check reminder and he NEEDED to verify my info and was not obligated to share information about what/who he was calling. So I told him I'm not obligated to share or verify any information and that I knew he was full of it. He talked over me like a typical pushy weasel and I told him never to call me again and hung up on him. Don't bother with these calls/numbers.
