Synthesized male voice stating that my taxes show that I have made an error (owe on my taxes) and need to resolve it with the IRS. In order to resolve this situation, it gave a 1-855 number to call. I was unable to write the number down at that time. Definitely suspicious!

Automatic voice saying I was audited and had committed fraud on my taxes and left this same number I called and they said they were irs and I told them where to get off! PS I knew it was scam I don't cheat on taxes and furthermore the IRS SENDS Letters they do not call you!

I am a cheater! Recording stating I had committed tax fraud and need to resolve immediately. Referred me to another number.  The IRS NEVER calls, they send letters.

I received a call from this number saying it was the IRS and stated I owed taxes and had defrauded irs. They conned me out of $250 dollars, telling me there was a warrant out for my arrest and the police were going to pick me up, and in order to release the warrant I had to pay all of the $2850.00 I owed. I talked them into a down payment of $250. I never knew it was a scam.....they fooled me, almost to the end. They had me put the money on a iTunes card and I gave them the number and they activated it. It was a terrible experience.

Think about it----Why would the real  IRS want an I-Tunes card???  They collect taxes as in money.

There are numerous telephone and email scams in which individuals claim to be employees of the Treasury Department. These scammers often state that they are from the “Department of Legal Affairs,” offer grant money in exchange for you wiring a small payment, or threaten to arrest you within a short period of time unless payment is made. Do not provide personal information or payment to these individuals.  Their actions are crimes under Titles 18 and 31 of the United States Code, and the Treasury Office of Inspector General is working to stop them.

If they claim to be from Treasury, report  it to OIGCounsel@oig.treas.gov with a description.  If it was a phone contact, include:
the exact date and time that you received the call(s)
the phone number of the caller
the geographic location and time zone where you received the call
a description of the communication.

Received a call from this number 3 times today with the same as above just remember IRS contact you via u.s. mail not the phone

I have also received  multiple phone calls from this number today, also being an automated male voice stating that I have committed fraud on my taxes, that they are the IRS, and I needed to return the call to rectify the situation

Got the same thing--three or four calls today from this number and they left a recording.  Knew it was a scam from the beginning--the IRS would not contact you in this way, and if they did they wouldn't leave you a robotic VM saying you've defrauded the government, etc.  One of the lamer scam attempts I've ever heard.  How stupid do people think we are?

I received this call before and today as well, what a crazy case. telling me I did a fraud on my taxes, made me say I owe money to IRS, unbelievable! I almost believed it!

I got a call from this number saying the same thing. I called them back and they asked how was I going to rectify the situation.  Asking me what type of bank account did I have.

Received an automated call claiming to be irs stating that i had a fraudulent tax return. I called back and after 20 rings a man with an east indian accent answers (there is laughing and a foreign language spoken in the background) and says he is Shawn Martin with the irs and that a warrant has been issued for my arrest due to a fraudulent tax return. I asked for what year no response. I then ask for his badge number and he hung up.

I am glad i googled this after i cried freaking out. I told this officer jason scott i have a panic disorder and my bealth conditions.. He was very rude..and told me i didnt report from 2007...i was a minor then. He said i would go to federal prison for 3 years. I told him what about my kids? He was rude..he said call me when you have money to pay. And hangs up on me . i called back .since he mentioned something about a bankruptcy. So i asked him how do i file for bankruptcy he said ge knows nothing of bankruptcy. I called again and i get hung up on. Hmmmm
