CRA scam do not call

Got call from "collection agency" - Robert Williams , threatening to call attorney otherwise something .... Called back the number - answer machine with heavy Jamaican accent - Spam!

Got a call this morning advising calling from CRA and wanted my lawyer to call back advising tax fraud - was hindi speaking - looks like from India.  When questioned he advised will let RCMP know and hung up.

My mother got a call from these scammers.  The number they tell you to call is: 1-855-889-8801.  This is NOT the CRA!  Don't call these idiots and don't be intimidated by them either!  All they want to do is steal from you!!  If you are concerned about their message you can contact the CRA directly to confirm that everything is good with you and your taxes.  Here is a link to the CRA website: http://www.cra-arc.gc.ca/cntct/menu-eng.html

another CRA scam call..they don't give up ... Numerous calls ....dozens of messages left...I think the do a troll call to see if someone answers then start back...

Scam. Called police. Saying he is from Canada revenue agency. Called him on it. He totally hung up.

I am going to get this call traced. Then Do something about it.

Robert Williams, supposedly representing the CRA, calls from 855-889-8001 to say you or your attorney needs to call them "the second" you get the message, or the legal consequences are "on you".

855-889-8001 is a Verizon business toll free number.  You can report abuse by contacting abuse@verizon.net.
Verizon does NOT tolerate this type of activity and will act to disable this number quickly.

CRA called again--called back and the person who answered didn't say who it was--so I asked if it was Canada Revenue Agency I was calling and -- huh, yes--so I told him to give it up, we are all onto your scam. Called a second time, got the same person, only this time he answered with CRA--again I told him that you [***] need to give it up we are onto you.

Thank you everyone. Received the same call, with the same message.  A little unnerved at first, but then I googled the number and got this forum. It's really too bad the scammers are out there - and especially feel bad for the elderly who may fall for it.

Another CRA scam

Called twice today. Want to know how to trace the call. Really bother.

This seems very common based on the volume of recent comments.  Just got this call from an autodialer too.

Reçu appel et message sur ma boite vocale à11:46hrs pour retourner l'appel dans la seconde qui suit afin d'éviter des problèmes. L'appel est en anglais.

I got a call from "officer Robert Williams from the CRA" to call him at 1 855 899-8005. It was a computer-generated voice. LOL. Seems they've changed their phone number from 899-8001 to 899-8005, to try to start the scam afresh.
