It called in the evening; never had a call from this number before. I did not say anything after picking up, the line was totally silent for 15 seconds until I cursed into the phone. After I did that it started into a ringback tone, but I just hung up.

I work for Cox and i got a phone call from this number. I answered the call and it was some girl trying to pass of as a cox worker telling me i needed to pay right now with or they have a crew at my house to turn me off. I then told her hmmm well lets see im standing in front of my boss at Cox Communications witch is where i work at and your on speaker he saying i dont have any late bill. She hung up. Now my boss didnt tell me that or say that fyi. Do not give any personal information to this number. If this number calls you to be on the safe side dont answer and call 1-800-234-3993 (Cox Communications Customers Service) and see if everything is ok with you Cox Account

I recently called Cox on a Saturday to set up an appt to switch my service to a new address. The following Monday and Tuesday I got calls from “Cox Promotions” from an 855 number. On Tuesday I mistook it for another company so I actually answered it, and I don’t think it is a coincidence that I am now getting calls from this scam number. Cox really needs to look into this, how the hell are scammers getting ahold of Cox customers’ information??

They probably didn't. They're probably just calling numbers in your area, playing the odds that the people they reach have Cox.
