    This is a criminal extortion scam operating out of India. They are making the calls utilizing VOIP and the names of legitimate firms to make it appear the calls are originating from within the US. There is NO "company" or "debt" and you will NOT be arrested. They are harvesting and/or buying consumers' personal identifying information and you need to do whatever you can to protect yourself. This includes: Notifying the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/, placing fraud alerts with all three credit bureaus, notifying your bank and employer and letting these criminals know you are aware they are attempting to extort money for a non-existent debt and have alerted the authorities.

    I have received calls all afternoon starring about 1pm today.  They have called my employer.  They have called so many times today that it locked up our phone lines.  We tried tracing the number but they have a 000 prefix.  They are very rude.  The two guys that I spoke with are Dan Richards and Brian Walker.  However I believe it is the same guy.  When I ask for a transaction date and loan amount, I am told this info is not available due to it being presented as evidence in my criminal investigation.  When I ask for a case number, an email, and/or written proof, they get mad and say they will contact my employer.  They even went as far as calling me from my employers number and stated it was a three way conference call.  These sick people are out of control.  I filed a complaint with FTC but am concerned that it will cause a problem if they start back up on Monday.  How long do they normally harass people? When will they stop?

    Ashley, I'm including links to the articles on extortion Scammers. They are horrible. And your employer needs to be aware of what they can do also. Make sure you read the first article.  Fight back and file complaints. Consider buying a call blocking device or phone..

    Extortion Scam Related to Delinquent Payday Loans

    The Internet Crime Complaint Center has received many complaints from victims of payday loan telephone collection scams. Callers claim the victim is delinquent in a payday loan and must repay the loan to avoid legal consequences. The callers purport to be representatives of the FBI, Federal Legislative Department, various law firms, or other legitimate-sounding agencies. They claim to be collecting debts for companies such as United Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Advance, U.S. Cash Net, and other Internet check-cashing services.

    According to complaints received from the public, the callers have accurate data about victims, including Social Security numbers, dates of birth, addresses, employer information, bank account numbers, and the names and telephone numbers of relatives and friends. How the fraudsters obtained the personal information varies, but in some cases victims have reported they completed online applications for other loans or credit cards before the calls started.

    The fraudsters relentlessly call the victim’s home, cell phone, and place of employment. They refuse to provide any details about the alleged payday loans and become abusive when questioned. The callers have threatened victims with legal actions, arrests, and, in some cases, physical violence if they do not pay. In many cases, the callers harass victims’ relatives, friends, and employers.

    Thank you!  Yesterday was pretty bad and they really upset me.  They were extremely rude to my employer as well.  I will be sure to let them know on Monday.

    I got a call from 877-835-2362 from a guy with a heavy Indian accent saying I owed an ungodly amount of money. Said his name was Kevin Baker and that I or my attorney needed to call him back at 855-894-5103 to rectify the situation because he was sure that I wanted to take care of it. Since it was a case against me and my social security number. This is not the first time they have tried this scam on me. They tend to try for a few months and the lay off for a few and then back on again.
