Two txts within 10 seconds of each other, one from phone number posted and the other from a five digit source, for an ATM app verification code, same six digit code each time. I don’t have nor have I ever had any such app. Suspected phishing scam.

Recieved two text messages from above number with the same Shop Pay verification code. I don't have Shop Pay or anything like it. I wasn't on-line attempting to buy anything. Two days ago someone unknown to me went on Facebook and asked a bunch of my FB friends to send a friend request to the unknown person. When a couple of them did, the unknown person wanted money. I don't know if this is related but I'm taking action.

I got the same thing as others have from this number, appearing In early morning hours 2:40 & 3:40 AM.
First text from 22395 with a verification code number with second text from 855-909-0331 with different verification code number, both appearing to derive from a "Vendor” I work for sometimes that uses high levels of security within all aspects of business! More interestingly, my Last Pass Alerted me by email for exact same times, acknowledging the use of blocks necessary in system detouring exposures.
I’m thinking these are attempts from hackers trying to enter our secure accounts! Noting: No reason for this vendor to get into my LastPass especially at 2-3 AM and I had no activities working within that vendor’s sites at all lately. Very concerning!!

I got multiple text messages from this number, only mine was a "Shop Pay."  Then, the same exact text from 22395 with a different code number.

"Shop Pay" is a payment service provider that lets customers save their email address, credit card, shipping, and billing information so that checkout on a business's website is faster, but I did not sign up for it.

Received two texts from this phone number providing me with "Your Airbnb verification code is: (6digit number). Don't share this code with anyone, our employees will never asked for the code"

I personally do not have an Airbnb account. I then received 5 more consecutive texts with different verification codes.

I also received a shop pay verification from 22395 and then another shop pay verification from 8559090331.  I, unfortunately, used the 8559090331 code and the next day someone ordered off of my chewy.com account and so I think this is a scam and are trying to get into your information from shop pay. I'm now dealing with stopping my CC, waiting for refund back from chewy.com. Thinking twice about using shop pay going forward because I don't trust the verification code.

I got ripped off for $300 from this number and received a text that said; Your Coinbase verification code is (a 7 digit number) and then received more verification codes from a 5 digit phone number that claimed to be my bank.  I called some number that I thought was an insurance company that I wanted to cancel my policy and wanted a refund. The scammers said they could help me with that and tricked me into sending them a copy of my drivers license and social security number for identification verification and then asked to do remote assist of my computer to do the refund of money back into my bank.  They actually took out $300 from my bank account as I watched them do it on my computer screen.  They asked for more information and copy of most recent utility bills and I saw a lot more personal information they pulled up on my computer. They even had my face scanned for verification of identity.  Then I got scared and started thinking this isn't right as I never had to do all this stuff before just to get a refund.  So I turned off the computer and went to my bank to report it to the bank president.  The bank closed my account and opened a new account with different number.  But they got all of my personal information before I turned the power off.   Now I am worried what they can do to me in the future.  Who or where do I report this issue to?

In addition to taking the time to go to the FTC website on Identity Theft and doing everything they tell you to do there

Thanks to Slim, another registered poster here and computer whiz:

Since the scammers accessed the computer, they probably did one or more of the following:
    • Disabled the anti-virus software
    • Added nasty malware to the computer
    • Copied the Contact List (so they can spam/email your soon-to-be ex-friends)
    • Copied any financial data or passwords they could find
    • Compromised your ID on Facebook or other social site(s), and perhaps on shopping sites.
    • "Zombied" the computer, so it would respond to THEIR commands sent via internet
    • Deleted some important files
    • Asked for money to repair the damage they caused

What can you do immediately after such an attack?
    1.  Pull the cables on the computer, or otherwise disable it, so it cannot access the internet.
    2.  Change ALL  passwords stored on the computer.
    3.  Run FULL malware scans on the computer, in "SAFE" mode!
    4.  Change the passwords again, particularly if the malware scans showed anything.
    5.  Inform your bank and credit card companies.
    6.  Sign up for credit monitoring, and check the status frequently
    7.  Backup non-executable personal, data files to an external storage device.  (Executable files might be infected).
    8.  You may have to bring the computer to a local repair shop, and tell them the story.
    9.  Tell friends what happened, so they can be aware of strange emails from you.
    10.  Connect to the internet only AFTER all the above have been done.
    11.  Change the passwords on all online accounts.  Even better - access a "safe", uninfected  computer, and change your online account passwords RIGHT NOW.

    NOTE:
If your computer set a "Restore Point" while it was infected, any "System Restore" you make will re-infect your computer.  Suggest you delete any potentially infected restore points and avoid setting such restore points until after your computer has been thoroughly cleaned!

You fell for one scam, and might be susceptible to others mentioned on this site:

Read that info to educate and help protect yourself!

Honest computer companies do NOT cold-call people, or cause popups from websites to tell them their computers need fixing!

Some scammers even have websites, and falsely advertise they are associated with popular software packages or computer companies; so do NOT believe a "we will fix your computer remotely" site, and allow them access to your computer!
