Scumbags at this number locked my PC, telling me that it is imfected with malware. I smell a Super Bowl-sized scam. I have already contacted the Federal Trade Commission and will pursue the matter vigorously if my suspicions are confirmed.

This is a scam.  People need to unplug their Internet cable right away, run the program manager (CTRL-ALT-DELETE) close the windows, then run virus protection.

Never allow anyone access to your computer.  There's not much anyone can do to these people, they are tech scammers out of India or Pakistan and as such beyond the reach of US law.   Best take your computer to a brick and mortar computer repair shop that you trust and have your computer looked at.

I have McAfee,  Malwarebytes and Super anti-spyware programs.  I run them every once in a while.

Also, if they got access to your computer they probably got all of your personal and financial information too, so you might want to go to the bank and change all your financial account numbers of any kind.

Pop ups keep popping up - though my pop up blocker is TURNED ON! They keep telling me "malware" has been installed on my computer and that someone MAY have access to my webcam!!! It keeps telling me to call this number: 855 977 3716. I've ran my anti virus (Norton) and it keeps popping up. Nothing gets rid of it. I've literally tried everything! What do I do now?!

You can also go to file hippo and download maleware bytes and run it. I run spybot search & destroy for a back up to my Avast Antivirus also. All are free!
