- Carla| 3 repliesCalled me, and my 2 son's. Left same message stating my son had legal documents to sign and to call using a reference number. Would not tell me what it was about, they were just representing another company. Strange. How did they get all our numbers? When I answered the FIRST thing he said was " I must have wrong number", slso said they must have incorrect mailing address . Weird.

- JIMBO| 1 replyThey contacted my Mom, my Husband but never me. When I called they claimed I owe them $1800 and threatened garnishment. Sent me a letter with a company name I can't find when I google it. Called the office building of the address listed and the landlord doesn't recognize the name of the company. No suite number is listed on the letter which the manager said is unusual because all companies have different suite numbers. Do not give these people your money

- TammyCalled for my daughter actually, stating that she is being served and will have to go to court. Gave a case number to reference. Wondering how they got my number but she called them back and asked them to verify information and they couldn't. Scammers! Additionally, they never gave a company name or said this is an attempt to collect a debt . . . . nothing.

- BroSame call was done to us saying that my husband owed money and that their efforts to contact us had been exausted and we were being sent to court unless we made payment. I only received a voicemail which stated it was from Maricopa county and to my husband they told him it was from Wells Fargo. Thankfully my husband immediately moticed that the guy was not proffesional when he started saying things like "nah bro" or "just give us your bank account information to save it for when you can make a payment." That right there proves to me its a scam.

- Jones| 1 replyMy grandparents received a call saying I missed a court date, said they were calling from the county I live in. I called this number back and they stated I owed a debt from US Bank that if not paid in full by tomorrow I would be served papers and payment plan wasn’t an option, it had to be in full. After doing some research and calling the Consumer Finance division, they told me if this law firm can’t provide an address or a license number it is false, I also contacted my county courthouse and they had nothing with my name in the courts. I contacted the 855 number back and five people hung on me when I asked for info, they could even tell the state they were calling from. I got one rude man who gave me a number to the “attorney” he was working for but couldn’t give me a name then hung up on me. I called the “attorney” line and it was a number for Anaheim CA to Walt Disney resort. Later that day, I got a blocked call again from “Madison county processing department” saying they wanted to schedule a time and location for me to be served. I told them I had already called my county courthouse as well as my county sheriff office to file complaint against this scam. He told me he would put my case “in hold status” and quickly hung up.

- BigA replies to JonesThis is a fairly new name for a criminal enterprise. They seem to be making a name for themselves here and not in a good way. If we could get some sort of location we may be able to track them down. I am sure they will eventually make a mistake.
Whenever someone tells you that they are a "lawyer" or that they work for a lawyer or law firm, the first question you should ask is what state(s) they are registered in and their BAR number for that/those state(s). Then go to that state and check them out, contact them directly using the information in the state registration, as these crooks have been known to research real law firm names and attorney names and impersonate them.
It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it. You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/
Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

- BigA replies to Quita"federal court"? That is a laugh. There are two ways to get to Federal Court. First would be a civil lawsuit and it would either have to be a Federal Question of Law, or a Diversity case (Plaintiff and Defendant are in two different states) and it would have to be for more than $75,000.00. The second way would be criminal. There would be a Grand Jury hearing, and if you were indicted, the FBI or the US Marshalls Service would come to pick you up (no scummy pretend debt collector involved).
