Someone called me from here too with supposed documents for me to sign. I don't trust it. Sounds like a bill collector but going by the info that was left on vmail, it sounded like real old debt

Got a call from a "David" from a Legal Review team. Stated that there is a law suit against me and tied to my ssn. Funny part is, I haven't received anything regarding "collections" activity and check my credit weekly. So if there was a debt that I owe,, wouldn't reflect on my credit? Total scam and scumbags trying to get you to pay for something that is not even reported. And their tactics are sad. Making false threats is a violation of the FDCPA.

A woman Left two voicemails first saying would be going to my work to deliver sealed legal documents and to call this number with my reference number. Called again saying unable to locate me and I must make myself available today or will classify as undeliverable. Well, I'm not hiding so I don't know where she went.

She went NOWHERE!!    This is the FAKE "we have a warrant for you" SCAM scare tactic .  If there was a real document,  you would NOT have a warning cold call.  BLOCK & IGNORE!

This is the process server extortion scam.

They mention that they have received a Fax document or some sort of complaint and that there is a pending legal matter or action about to filed against you to create the sense of urgency.  They tell you that they are a “process server” and cannot give you the particulars of the case since the file is sealed. This is simply ruse to get you to call another number (often with a made-up case number) where they will ask for money to “make it go away” (this is actually the same place, they work in teams, one pretending to be the server, and the other usually pretends to be a lawyer).  They threaten to serve you at home or at work.  They tell you that if they serve you at work they need a supervisor, security, or HR person there as a witness, hoping that will cause you to panic over the alleged embarrassment of being served at work.  They also tell you that you will need two forms of ID.  None of which is true.  Process servers do not ever call ahead so that you can dodge them.  Process servers get paid to serve papers, nothing else.  They certainly are not going to pass up a paycheck by telling you that you can avoid being served, they are not going to give you an extra day or even a few hours to get a “stop order”.  Court documents are time sensitive and have to be served within a certain amount of time.  Remember that you can always call the local courthouse to see if there is actually a lawsuit that has been filed against you.

First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

Received a phone call person said his name is Tim Anderson he rushed through a company name saying he was a courier with documents that required my signature that I needed to be home between 10 and 3 that I would be required to show a state ID and have a witness present and that if I cannot be present at that time I need to call and reschedule if I did not they would mark me for noncompliance
