Left message today. Claim I've been selected to maybe be a winner of a car or cash and Conor is looking forward to talk to me. Right. I look forward to blocking this number as soon as I hit "submit" here.

Calling before 9AM, no name on Caller ID, just BOSTON MA ... scam!

Called my home#, didn't answer since didn't recognize the number.  No message left of course which pretty much explains it all... must be a telemarketer of some sort.   Number Blocked

Caller ID says "Boston  MA".  They leave no message.

I call back after hours (using *67 to block my number).  Their message identifies them as the "Foundation for American Veterans Inquiry Line".  There are a number of options.  There is a Do-Not-Call option (I don't recommend this as it can actually make things worse).  I will omit details.

I have entered dozens of entries at 800notes.com.  This may be one of the scummiest of the SCAMMERS.  Google "Foundation for American Veterans" and you will get an eyeful.  I couldn't find them on Charity Navigator or Charity Watch, even though they've been there in the past.  They failed to file required paperwork with the BBB.  They are pushy and rude.  They avoid answering questions.  They avoid sending information by mail (as required by law).  I've heard giving figures of between 6 to 11% (rest goes to graft/waste).  http://greatnonprofits.org/reviews/foundation-for-american-veterans/ gave them 1 of 5 stars.

Their hired-gun telemarketing firm is AC SERVICES, which has its own colorful history.

Don't answer their call.  Don't engage.  Block them.

Caller ID name changed to FAV -- but still a scammer.

Calling everyday, never leave a number. FAV - Foundation of American Veterans. I am a veteran and have never heard of them.

Went out to www.fav.org and the page looks great but click on any of the links for news about vets or Iraq, etc... It returns a message saying there is no news. I suggest contacting your local VFW or National Guard or Reserve unit and make a contribution directly to the unit.

Receive a call from these just about every day. Decided to actually answer and play along. The voice says that they are collecting for Wounded Veterans. When you try and make conversation, like what percentage goes to the vets,there is a dead silence and then the voice continues to ramble on and get you to provide your name and mailing address so they can mail out an envelope. Whole thing is automated and a scam.

got this call almost everyday on my land line   caller id  FAV ,   looking above  its something about  "Foundation for American Veterans  inquiry line "  pure scam

keep asking for Jonathan even though I say you have the wrong number they keep calling beyond annoying as I am on a do not call list in Mass.

Called very funny and friendly. Looking for donation for Homeless Vets. When I said already donated, he demanded to know what charities and insisted on sending me an envelope with my commitment to put atleast $20 in it. When I said no he got very rude and then hung up!! Pretty sure a reputable charity would not say nasty things and hang up when soliciting for donations!!

Charities are exempt. Duh.

I agree that charities are exempt from the federal DNCR. Unfortunately there plenty of bogus organizations out there pretending to be something they are not. It is for this reason that I treat ANY and ALL calls from unfamiliar numbers as a potential scam.
