I got a call from this number today (Dec. 29, 2014) and it was from Scripps, reminding me of an appointment at the Scripps Hospital in Encinitas, so I guess one could get a reminder from this number for any of the various Scripps locations around San Diego.

It is definitely the appointment reminder number for Scripps. It is safe. If you got a call and don't have any connection with Scripps, they probably mis-dialed.
