Called to update Dun & Bradstreet data for my single person operated business. Seemed legit.

Called our non-profit, emergency services telephone line four times yesterday, and no one responded when I answered the phone.  This morning someone was on the line who danced around answering my questions as to who they were and what they did.  I tend to be polite to this people, but her automated responses became frustrating.  I told her, when I finally got a bit of information, that if any government or financial institution wants to update our information, they could contact us.  I also asked her to remove our name from their list as their calls were tying up our phone lines.  I don't believe this was legit!

no message left. Have gotten numerous calls from this #.
Likely a "response monitoring" computer generated call to see what time of day the phone will be answered. Info is then passed (sold?)to telemarketing agencies to streamline their "live" call agents.
Solution: selective call blocking feature, available from Shaw digital phone service.

Left me a long, blank voice mail message. It's a VoIP line so the number isn't listed anywhere except on my website (I'm self-employed and run a small business). Why would they/it call, listen to my outgoing message, and then quietly stay on the line?

These people who have no problem annoying people just to make a buck have the same defect as spammers and terrorists. Maybe some day they'll test for it before birth.

Sick of their calls. Fax is currently sending 40 pages of junk to their number. 1-866-205-2013, insert long pause, 2, short pause, 4, connects to fax.

Phoned at 8:00am.Questioned my wife sternly about my small busines and said this call is due to a complaint.Worried both of us needlessly.Thanks so much for posting this site to warn and calm people about these spammers.These people have hit a new low in harassment for profit.

-caller would not answer my questions when asked who they were and what their call was in regards to
-finally said that they were updating their system and wanted to verify if our number was correct
-I asked her that our number(we are a government agency) was not to be published(there is a number available specifically for publishing)  
-I offered her this new number but then she said she didn't have access????
-????????

This is D&B they are quite persistent.  I think they get the small
business phone numbers from the register records office.  They are
looking for financial info on the company as they have insufficient to give a review to their customers. I just get rid of them.

Caller kept asking to verify info they had to update their business records, but when they asked about info they should already know (if they were legit), such as company creation date, etc, I told them they should already have it on file. And if they didn't why are they trying to get this information from me. After "dancing around" my question, as others have also  posted, they hung up.

Claimed they were a non-profit info gathering service provider. Yeah right!

Caller mistakenly gave out their name though: Remee Micalle. She was nice enough to spell it out, too.

Caller left an official sounding and demanding message with my first and last name to call back immediately, with no explanation.

Voice was low, but managed to get her name Louise Fortin who insisted I call back to her at 1-800-266-0333 x2078, which is diff. # than her outbound call.

Thanks to this website I was able to find out what is behind it.

Needless to say, I blocked the outbound number and will not be calling back.

Has called my small business phone during office hours a number of times this past moneth. I have never answered and they never leave a message. Glad I looked the number up on line. Found some helpful information.

Aggresive call demanding company and personal information. Came across like sshe was from Revenue Canada. Made me mistrust her immediately.

I just called that number back and found out that if you wait very patiently (do not press anything, just wait until after all of the announcements), there is an opportunity to cancel your telephone number from their database by leaving a voicemail.

This same telephone number can receive faxes if you wish to do this in writing.

I just did that and will be keeping a clear record at our Law Firm if they call again, which they seem to be doing *during* business hours.  I had the same experience as others being that there is not one on the other line, just a long pause and then ~~ click! ~~ they hang up on you.

I did look up the company that one of the callers listed above and came up with their website address http://www.dnb.ca/default.html.

Hopefully they will not call our firm again, and if they do, I will post again here.
