I’m current.y in England and just got a call from this number. I answered and it said it was a Card Fraud Alert. It asked me to input my card#, which no one should ever do. I put all zeroes and then it said it was transferring me to a live person. Again, it just went to a request to put my card# in. After waiting a bit, it transferred me to someone. He asked me for my card number, but I asked him which card. It was specific to a debit card, not credit card. I know both my banks monitor my accounts (for free) and notify me if there are problems. He said he could not help me without my card#. I asked which card, he couldn’t answer. I asked him to use my home number as they called me. He couldn’t.
    Yeah, total scam

This was a legitimate call from People's United Bank fraud dept.  They left us a voicemail with a different number to call back, and straightened out what they thought was a fraud charge on my husbands debit card.

I'm not sure about this number, 866-215-1504.  Call was supposedly the fraud department and the number they give you to call back is 877-230-3179, which I did.  A recorded message comes on and says there has been suspected fradulent activity on your card - enter your 16 digit card # which I did not do.  It asked for the card # 3 different times and when I failed to enter it, I was switched to a fraud agent.  He never asked for my card # but said it was a debit card.  He didn't sound very professional.  Will call our bank in the morning.  Interesting thing is that i called my husband to tell him not to use that card because, supposedly, they put a block on it.  He had just use it gasing up his vehicle.  I don't know.

People have said it is different banks, and one person posted that they are in England.  There is no doubt that this is a scam outfit calling.

I received a call from this number, also saying from my bank (Country Bank) and gave the last 4 digits of my card. Gave a different number to call. Concerned, I called my bank directly, and they saw that there were some charges that tried to go through, but as they were out of state, they were denied (bank has a policy that you register when traveling). We cancelled the card. Bottom line - if in doubt call your bank.

Scammers routinely spoof legitimate numbers.  It's always best to call the number on the back of your card.

You should read the other posts here Deb. It was a scam. If you haven't figured out by now, you should cancel that card and get a new one. Never give your info to someone who calls you. You get the banks info direct from their website and call the bank yourself.

These scammers called and gave you a number, said they were your bank, then asked you to give them your personal info. Nope.

This was a legit call. I was purchasing something overseas and it was blocked as part of my credit union's fraud protection. Shortly after the attempted purchase was blocked I got the call from this number.
Upon calling this same number back, the automated system asked to verify my name by pressing 1, then for the ZIP code the CC is registered under, and then it described the attempted purchase along with my credit union name.
No personal info other than the ZIP code was given.

This number has been associated with scam calls.
Never trust the caller will be who they say they are, always call from an official number to verify they called you.

Since you know who called you would logically have no reason to look up the number so why did you?
