CRA scam callers.  Just called them back to tell them to F Off and stop trying to scam people.

Pretends to be the government. Tell them you've called the RCMP and filed their phone number.

They just called me! Cra stated do not call them back they can hack your information from your cell phone

Good point.  I called them back to let them have it via my work landline.

I have  been waiting for months for this call so that I could tell them to f off.  Called my work phone number.  Same message "Officer Craig Williams etc etc" in a very bad Asian accent. Doesn't say who they are calling for or what he  is an officer of.  Called back the number, got a voice mail, so I told them to f off anyway.

Does anyone know - if I had picked up the phone (I was on another call) would it have been a live person or a recording?

Just got this call, I believe that it is a robo call as only got last part of message.....  Why can't these numbers be disconnected by service providers?

Was it a very heavy Asian accent telling you it was Officer Craig Williams, blah blah blah "as the situation unfolds on you.  I can only wish you good luck".  That sort of thing?

I called them back using my cellphone because I didn't find this thread until later. How can I secure my phone afterwards?

Claims they are Revenu Canada. Person with heavy accent. Said to call back with an attorney.

Same  here. The number is from china. Scam

What can happen if they have my cellphone number and my full name? Only that....

I am wondering that why they know my phone number, I ordered few item from Aliexpress (China) few days ago, Did u buy anything from China?
They called and left robo message regarding about officer XX call and want me to call them back.... Fake call, I will not answer any 866 call at all, All scam....

Called me at 7:30 on a Saturday morning!! Left me a message saying is was CRA. I called them back and he gave me his name " Craig Williams from Canada Revenue" and then I asked me for my name and phone number.   I  told them I knew this was a scam and I was going to report them. He said "it's ok ma'am" and hung up on me!! Poor people that fall for this!

No, they can't.

Because the scammers are likely spoofing the phone number of a legitimate business. Disconnecting the number would punish an innocent business, not the scammers who would simply move on to another spoofed number.

Unless they asked for you by name, they likely didn't get your phone number from anywhere and are simply calling all numbers in a given sequence.
