They called me claiming to be a representative of the refund department of a computer security and repair company, asking for my grandfather. They asked me if my email was right (I just answered yes because they most likely had it already if they said this), then said that due to the closing of their business they were refunding a large portion of money that had been sent earlier for fixing (his) computer and providing security. Since I can't be sure he didn't actually request these services from them I'm not entirely sure it's a scam, but all the signs were there.

1. Man with a vaguely Indian accent claimed he was "Dennis Wilson."
2. Never specified exactly what services had already been provided.
3. Claimed I needed to use a computer to verify the refund through their email (also seemed reluctant to have me call back, but eventually offered the number given [same number as they called from], and to ask for him).

So from what I understand it's a scam, but I figured I should list my reasoning above anyway just in case.

It is a SCAM.  The caller wants access to your computer so they can but malware on it and THEN charge you big bucks to fix it.  NEVER allow emote access to a cold caller!!.

It's a scam.
