Is it a number to tell you to pay them through only a credit or debit card because it seem like a scam.

Called with my birth name which was changed more than a decade ago. Been married for 4 years and they didn't have that name at all. Thought I was employed, but haven't worked in more than 5 years. Had the last 4 of my social only and wanted me to verify it. Nope! Definate scam. DO NOT GIVE THESE PEOPLE ANY INFO OR MONEY!!!

These people called and said it may involve an urgent legal matter  and to call them at that number and reference file number MD 3393. First of it if they don't know if it does involve a legal matter (may involve) why would they call me and not send legal paperwork via mail? I am a legal assistant by trade and no one ever calls about urgent legal matters PERIOD!

Yep. Those are the moves of a debt scammer.  They pretend to be collecting an old debt that you have defaulted on. The treats can become ridiculous and absurd, but they can genuinely and illegally harass people into paying a debt that is not owed, and never was.

It is best not to call back.  Ignore the calls, block the numbers. If you call back, they take that as sign that you can be intimidated.  They sometimes will call your job and family members.  The numbers they used a most often spoofed, which makes it hard to file a meaningful complaint.

Called my mother's house.  Said there was a civil complaint against me.  Gave a case number and another number for me to call back.  Said I didn't respond to the mail they sent and if I didn't respond now and call the number it would involve the police

Caller said that someone filled a civil suit against me. Be in there office by 4:00 pm or legal action would be taken. I did call back from another phone, no answer. They gave me a case number also.
