- D| 2 repliesI received a call Friday from a private number. I answered only because I was waiting for a doctor to call me back and they sometimes call private. The woman stated that she was a private courier and was hired to serve me with documents. She asked if I was aware that I would be served. When I told her no she stated, that I would have to call 1-866-217-1202 and provide them with case # 2017-21718 and ask if I was eligible for a STOP order to prevent her from coming out on Monday. She then stated, "You've been notified" and hung up. I called the number she provided and was skeptical right away. The woman, Michelle, never mentioned what agency she worked for. After I gave her the case #, she stated, "Oh your case has already been sent to litigation so I have to go to the other room to grab it. Hold on a moment." At this point I knew that this was BS. Michelle had told me that I was being sued for writing fraudulent checks and defaulting on a loan from My Quick Funds in 2012. I told her that this couldn't be true since this alleged default did not appear on my credit report. She proceeded to ask for more information and I told her I was not going to provide her with anything. She informed me that I will then be served with documents regarding court proceedings. This morning I received a message on my work phone and personal cell, my parents also informed me they received a call, from a Sabrina Scott. She stated she didn't receive the STOP order and would first be coming to my job and then to my home if I wasn't at work. If I was at work she would need to have my supervisor or HR present as a witness, but I could still call and try to get that STOP order otherwise she would be at my job late morning/early afternoon. She called from a local number, so I called it back but it was a fax number. It is now late afternoon, and I have not seen Sabrina LOL. I did a Google search for Sabrina Scott courier, and came across other postings very similar dating back to 2015, and using other 800 numbers. I had received similar calls a few years ago. These other calls were from a couple of men, one stating that he worked with the local sheriff and the other stating he worked with a law firm. I was being harassed by these men for several weeks. I kept doing research and learned that they were also calling others. I eventually got them to stop harassing me by telling them I read all about them on websites such as this one, and that I had contacted my state Attorney General. Prior to positing on this site, I filed a complaint with the state Attorney General regarding my recent experience with Michelle and Sabrina. I am curious to see if either will call me tomorrow with an excuse as to why Sabrina never came to visit me at work. I had told my supervisor about her and we were both looking forward to this LOL.

- BigA replies to DThey won't show up as this is a straight up extortion attempt to scare you into paying:
Criminals are masquerading as debt collectors in an attempt to extort money from people by scaring them into believing that:
a. You are going to be sued and it will cost you lots of money when they allegedly “win” their case.
b. That they are about to file criminal charges or that you will be criminally charged (they use the bad check or hot check claim a lot) and go to jail.
c. That they will take away your driver’s license.
d. That will garnish your wages without actually being suing you, going to court, or even winning a case and obtaining a judgement followed by a judge’s consent to the garnishment. They also claim that your wages will be garnished in amounts far above all legal limits.
One of the tricks they use is to call your family, friends, neighbors and/or places of employment (past or present or both) to create panic and embarrassment so that their intended victim calls them and they can scare that person into paying their extortion money.
They will use the words “Mediator”, “Arbitrator”, “Law Office” or claim that they are a “Lawyer or Paralegal” to make you believe that they are something other than a debt collector want-a-be and that they don’t have to follow Federal and State collection laws, even though they do have to follow those laws, but they won’t. They also tell you that if you fail to call them back you are "waiving your right to council", which is pretty much nothing but hogwash.
They claim they are officers of the court, or that an officer will accompany them, or even that they are sending officers to arrest you. All hogwash. They tell you to lock up your dogs and guns for “everyone’s” protection. More hogwash.
They use the phrase “govern yourself accordingly” a lot, something they should do themselves.
They mention that they have received a Fax document, to create the sense of urgency and tell you that they are a “process server”. This is simply ruse to get you to call another number where they will ask for money to “make it go away” (this is actually the same place, they work in teams, one pretending to be the server, and the other usually pretends to be a lawyer). Process servers do not ever call ahead so that you can dodge them. Process servers get paid to serve papers, nothing else.
