I jut got the same message 20 minutes ago and I DO have a Wells Fargo account.  However, I just access my account online and had no on-line messages from Wells Fargo nor can I see anything strange as far as transactions, etc. I tried to make a small transfer from my savings to my checking to see if the account was truly deactivated and I was successful with the transfer.

My curiosity got the best of me so called the number.  It was a really weird-sounding male computerized voice that said, "Welcome to the Wells Fargo card activation center.  Please hold while we transfer you."  Then, the voice instructed me to enter my card number followed by the #sign.  Although I have a Wells Fargo debit card that I use almost daily, there is no reason that it would require 'activation.'

Please, please, please don't fall for this and give them your credit card or debit # number.  THIS IS A SCAM FOR SURE!

I don't have any affiliation with Wells Fargo and I got the message this morning. I called and it was an automated prompt that asked you to enter all of your personal information and then disconnected the call...

    SCAM!!!!

Just got the same thing, called the number and didn't ener any information: pressed pound the whole way through trying to speak to a person. At the end it said "congratulations, your card has been activated" and disconnected. They didn't even have any info to activate. Definite scam.

This appears to be some kind of scam organization.   They send you a text, informing you that your Wells Fargo account has been deactivated and that you need to call this number to reactivate.  Then, when you  call, a computerized voice instructs you to enter your card number.

I got the same message, and I too just got on line and checked my accounts....all of them look fine. I might stop into the bank today and ask them. Last year I got a strange email that asked me to click on a link because valuable information had been compromised. I printed that page and took it to the bank. They hadn't sent it and they turned it over to their security department or who ever handles those types of situations.
