Call from Ms. Dodge of CRA. It's urgent. Provided a 6 digit "reference number."

Keep getting calls from a ms. Kitchens Re: a six digit number. Insisting i or my rep. call her. This is in Cailf. Co. called CRA. COnsumer recovery assoc. i think. Have no idea what this is and do not intend to respond.Would like this to stop. I don't owe anyone anything.

Received a call from a "Christine" questioning if I was who she was trying to contact, She did have my name right, however she wanted me to verify my social security number. I immediatly told her I was not comfortable with this conversation (she was very abraisive and pushy) I hung up on her and she called back in seconds. I let it go to my voicemail and she left a very curt message for me or my attorney/representative to call back and give them a six digit reference number (which she provided) as soon as possible as it would be in my best interest. Needless to say I never returned the phone call.

My grandmother called stating that a Ms. Willie Mason was looking for me and that I left my grandmother's number as a reference.  Please note I NEVER USE MY GRANDMOTHER AS A REFERENCE!  When I called the number, a man said that they were going to issue IRS a 1099 for the amount owed on an old Bank of Marin credit card bill from 2000.  I informed the man that the account has been closed and the bill had been cleared from my credit reports.  The man became beligerent.  When I asked him where he was calling from all he said was that the company was called "CRA" and hung up.  When I called back, he refused to give me a person to contact. Please beware and do not give any of your personal information out.

I received a call from "Christine" as well.  She was actually looking for a relative.  When I asked her what it was in regards to she hung up on me.  I have been a bill collector before and this is not how you conduct yourself.  Does anyone know what this is in regards to?  I called the number back and a gentleman was very rude and again hung up on me.  I called a second time and the man asked what my file number was.  Christine did not leave it with me and he refused to take my number off of their call list.

This is really scary, I don't even have my grandmother's personal cell phone number (for emergencies only, if she falls or needs medical attention) and she received a call today asking for someone with a name similar to mine!  How do these people get our relatives information?

Got a call from this tramp named Kristine calling to tell me that my daughter or her legal representative needs to call by 1700 EST or they were going to issue a warrant for her arrest, when I asked this "tramp" where she got my number from, she said I called and left her a message, needless to say she was lying and when it was confirmed that she was lying about the whole thing(they were trying to extort $ from my daughter who is a college student)after numerous hang ups by them and then this other heffa named lindsey kept calling, I started to call them and the harrassment stopped, they can dish it out, but they cannot take it, so everyone maybe we should call them numerous times and harrass them like they harrass us, give them a taste of their own medicine.

Received a message on my answering machine on 1-16-09.  Caller identified herself as Miss Dodge. Miss Dodge was urgently trying to reach my sister in-law, asked for her by name, or her legal representative regarding case number 745689.  My brother & sister in-law neither live with me nor receive calls here.  I called the number they gave, 866-226-1436, to have them remove my number.  Whoever I spoke with said the call is regarding a legal matter & details cannot be discussed.  I don't know how they got  my phone number (It was changed & it is not given if callers dial my old phone number.) or the name of my sister in-law.  They supposedly removed my phone number from their system.

These people called my ex-husband's home and left the information with his wife. We have been divorced for 20 years! Caller was Ms Dodge.

On 1/20/09 a message was left on my answering machine for my ex-husband from a Miss Dodge demanding that my ex or his registered representative must call back that day. She did leave a case number but I didn't write it down. I call the number she left and a man answered. I told him I do not have contact with my ex and we've been divorced for several years. He told me they would not it in the file and remove my number. It amazes me that my name has been changed since I remarried several years ago. In addition, our phone number was changed to a new number since Katrina and is listed under my husband's name, not my ex.

Rec'd a call from CRA re: an old credit card that was charged off in 2000. He said I owed 12K and I was being "warned" that if I did not pay the settlement amount of 7100 or agree to make payments, a 1099c would we issued and I would owe the IRS taxes on the amount (around 4200). i asked what the CRA acronym stood for and he said it's just CRA. What a joke! I told them to let me think about it. I wanted to them to KMA!

A rude man called my dads home looking for my wife by her maiden name. He gave my dad the case number,I called the number and talked to the man. The company didn't have a real name just CRA. I told him never to call my dads home again.

A Mrs. Berman called my sister who lives in a totally different state from me who I haven't seen in about two years and threatened her with all these legalities. That I had 24 hrs to call them back or they would file a suit against me and serve me with papers. First of all who in the hell do they think they are and second my sister has nothing to do with any of my matters. I have never put her as a reference or anything. Besides I don't owe anything to anyone never have never will. They are just a bunch of scammers preying on innocent people man what has the world come to. Hope they crawl back under that rock they came from and die!

I just got this same phone call.  It was very odd and then is when I looked up the (800) number and saw your post.  I hung up on her and she has not called me back.

These people know my ss number and my maiden name. They told me I did not tell them. what should I do?

I HAD A MAN CALL MY MOTHERS HOME & LEFT A MESSAGE THAT MY HUSBAND NEEDED TO CALL BY TODAY OR THEY GOING TO FILE CHARGES, HE WAS VERY RUDE, THEN LAST NIGHT I GOT A CALL FROM MY EX-SISTER IN LAW WHICH I HAVE NOT TALKED TO IN 8 YEARS, AND SHE SAID THAT A MAN CALLED AND LEFT A MESSAGE ON HER RECORDER FOR MY HUSBAND SAYING THAT HE NEEDED TO CALL OR A LEGAL REP. HE DID LEAVE A REF#, SHE JUST GOT A NEW PHONE NUMBER 2-MONTHS AGO. ( HOW DO THESE PEOPLE GET THESE NUMBERS. ) THERE SHOULD BE A LAW AGAINST COMPANIES CALLING FAMILY MEMBERS THAT HAVE NOT BEEN USED FOR A REFERENCE AND HAVE NOTHING TO DO WITH OUR FINANCE MATTERS, OR FOR THAT MATTER DON'T EVEN OWE ANY CREDIT CARDS.

It is illegal to call relatives and demand debts.  Unfortunately, CRA is running a racket.  Somehow these con-artists have access to people's private information, such as social securty numbers and credit history without any authorization from those involved.  I know because I got one of their reps, who used a lot of slang and sounded like a teenager, talking under a false assumption that I would help him collect a debt from my husband (that never existed).  This dumb-dumb provided me with my husband's social security number and we discussed my "excellent" credit history.  When I asked him how he was able to run an inquiry on both of our credit histories without authorization from us and began questioning him about CRE and if he was aware of Federal Trade Commision and consumer laws, he hung up on me.  I called the number back, asked for him, and when he recognized my voice, he hung up on me again.  Very scary.  I'm sorry they are harassing you and your family.
