Computer voice with terrible command of the English language warning me that my windows license will expire and my windows service stop unless I call this number to renew.  The call came from an 855 number, caller ID said 800 Service.  Could vaguely hear call center voices in background.

This is a fake HP, Dell, or Microsoft computer support scam from criminals using a call center in India and spoofing various fake U.S. area code phone numbers. The scam involves telling you that 'they are receiving alerts from your computer showing errors'. Unless you previously contacted HP, Dell, or Microsoft about a very specific problem, **ALL** unsolicited phone calls that you receive from 'HP Support', 'Dell Support', or 'Microsoft Support' are SCAMS that either say your computer has a problem or has a virus and they will tell you to use a browser to visit a cbttr.com or fastsupport.com website and enter a code that lets the scammer take control of your computer and then they install their own real ransomware virus that they then force you to give them your credit card number so they can charge thousands of dollars on your credit card.

More than 95% of all North America phone scams originate from crowded phone rooms in India that run multiple scams every day ranging from fake pharmacies to posing as fake IRS officers collecting on 'unpaid back taxes', and the India government knowingly lets these phone scams proliferate. But these scammers are so bad with their English and their acting that you have to be a fool yourself to be tricked by their fake products or services. I love to play along with these scammers before I block their phone numbers and area codes so I immediately started talking at a very slow pace like an old man who is ignorant about computers to extend their phone call for as long as possible. My personal best record is keeping a fake computer support India scammer on the phone for about 80 minutes while I cooked, ate lunch, and washed dishes.

    You can phone these scammers directly on their office numbers at 855-849-1201, 877-316-0070, 866-228-3076, 936-250-0447, 260-909-8280, 404-474-4911, 647-247-0890, 801-882-2460, 567-244-0061, 530-287-2822, 915-209-8481, 408-459-0479, 210-776-1291, 314-666-9790, 888-533-5887.

Same as most of the people in this thread. Vague threat to shut off my windows services. There are mainly two reasons they are trying to get you on the phone - one reason is they want to gain remote access to your computer by telling you it's the only way to fix the issue and then they do some nefarious stuff to it in the background while they have a notepad up, along with having you log into your email and/or bank accounts as they are in control of your computer logging every keystroke you make; the other main reason is if you call back the number sometimes they reroute it or spoof it so that you are really calling an expensive international number without realizing it and they are charging your phone while they put you on hold or keep you on the line with various tactics. Speaking from experience of these things happening to two people I know.
