Claims to be an attorney, wants a call back...Yeah, I'll return your cold-call, on my dime? No Thanks.  Common scam whereby you return the call, and they can threaten you & say what they want, and it is not harassment because YOU called THEM.  Preys on our polite phone manners.  Favorite tactic of scammers who have been cort-ordered not to call people.

Left message saying attempts to deliver documents have expired?? Said to call them to avoid further action

Basically a debt collection scam.  DO NOT return the call.  Block and ignore.

I've received a series of calls over the past week from this number, which has now been blocked, as well as 866-216-7639 (also now blocked). They claim to be mediators for an internet Payday Loan company called Easy Cash, and are trying to collect on a loan from 2011. Note that I did have 3 outstanding Payday Loans and all were include on my Bankruptcy, which was discharged several years ago. This is a SCAM. This and other companies will not provide you with proof of debt, nor will they talk to your attorney or verify a Bankruptcy. They also will not give you a mailing address or a good phone number - the number they call you from will not go through if you call them back, they come back as disconnected. They obtain your information from public records, and hope to scare you and people you know (family, friends) into thinking a debt is owed and that legal action will be taken if money is not paid. I suspect that it is the same company, using different phone numbers that you can never reach them at (so that they cannot be traced), and using different company names for their firm and for the alleged creditor. I am surprised these scams are still prevalent, as it's been around for 2-3 years now, but they are still around because people/victims believe them and pay. For debts that are valid, a creditor or collection agency will always provide you with a valid contact number and mailing address, if requested, as well as proof of debt to include the original start date of the loan/credit card, and the original and current amount past due. Additionally, there is a statute of limitations for all debts including credit cards, loans, payday loans, etc, and though they vary by State, it will typically be 2-6 years, the averaqe about 3 years for collection, from date of origination. Many people have had to take out loans, payday loans, signature loans, etc., and have defaulted due to severe financial issues. I was one of them. I finally had to file for bankruptcy after years of trying to "catch up" after a divorce. These illegal scammers take advantage of you by looking up your public records and attempting to reach you using the bits of details they have obtained through public records, just enough to make you think you might actually owe a debt, even after Bankruptcy. Educate yourselves, and don't let these scammers fool you or your family into paying an invalid debt.
