This is the 5th call from this organization. Apparently, this company is a clearing house for debt collection agencies (>400 per the supervisor, Kenneth). They were told the person that they were trying to call, Cody MacGeo, case # 138585, is not at this phone number. The company refuses to remove my phone number from the case file because "you cannot verify the details in the account". Of course I can't! I'm not the person they are looking for. The woman, Gina Gordon, left voicemail threatening court action and went so far as to say, "consider yourself served" which is illegal.....I have filed a complaint with the Consumer Financial Protection Bureau & I suggest everyone else do the same. Sent them a letter (certified mail with return receipt) explaining that they have the wrong number, that it is your number and that they must stop calling. If they continue after that point you have grounds for a lawsuit.

I'd also suggest recording their calls (be sure to tell them they're being recorded – to keep it legal). By threatening court action they have violated the law and having evidence of that could be helpful.
