- MikeThey called and asked me right away to verify my date of birth. They wouldn't tell me why they were calling other than it was a "personal matter". When I wouldn't give them any info they hung up.
- mapKeeps calling won't leave a message
- SteveA guy calls and asks for me and says that he is calling about a 'personal matter' and wanted me to verify my DOB. I asked him who he was and who he was working for and he said he couldn't tell me until I verified my DOB. I told him that I would not give my DOB unless he identified himself...he hung up. I called the "toll free number" back and the guy I spoke to wouldn't identify who they were, just said that they were a call center making calls for a number of different companies. He said if I gave him my name and number, he would look me up in their system...I said 'thanks for nothing' and hung up on him.
- stacy jerauldI receive calls daily from this number and they do not identify themselves but want my personal info
- Jessica| 3 repliesDebt collection for Hospital.
- Call type: Debt collector
- AI asked from what company she was calling and she refused unless I verified DOB or address because this is a personal matter.
When I refused to give personal info unless I knew to whom I was speaking, she told me I could "look the number up" if I was so curious and hung up. - Tiffany replies to Jessica| 2 repliesIf it's a debt collector why do they not identify themselves? When I call the number it doesn't say a name, a woman answers and does not give a name or any of their info until I give mine. Debt collectors don't work like that.
- TiffanyThis number called twice but did not leave a message. I've read the other posts and I don't give personal info over the phone. I have a call blocker so I blocked the number.
- daniellethis number has called several time in the last week, and as well refuse to tell me who they are without me giving my info
- Elizabeth replies to TiffanyExactly. I just called and was told I was on a recorded line, but did not identify himself. What makes them think we are going to tell them anything? Jerks!
- JoeDon't know. Knew my name but refused to disclose who they were.
- Tim| 1 replyI receive calls daily from this number and they do not identify themselves they refuse to leave a voicemail, however when I speak with them they are very forceful on the phone and are requesting my personal info.... Who are these people.

- BigA replies to TimFrom what the other posters say this is some sort of debt collection scam. If they talked to you, they are now required to do this:
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.

I called the number back and they answered saying, "This is a recorded line, my name is Jennifer, how may I help you". I informed her that I received a call from this number and where am I calling. She stated that it was "State Collection Service" and asked for my phone number. I gave her my phone number then she put me on hold. I hung up!

- SamanthaThey have been calling all week. Today they left a voice mail to call them back due to debt collectors. I am I aware that I owe money.
I called the number back and the man that answer reimbursed to tell me who he was or what company he works for. He asked me for my name and number. When I told him I wanted to know what company it was for he said a call center. That he would be able to tell me which company when I gave him my number. When I told him I wouldn't be giving me any personal information he hung up on me.- Call type: Debt collector
- AnonymousUsed to call my cell phone, but I refused to give them my DOB. Now they're calling my work number asking for my DOB again, and refuse to give me any information about who they are until I do. I'm not giving out my personal identification info for any reason; they are legally required to inform you about who they are and also to send you a letter within 5 days of first contact. I have received nothing. They said something rudely like, "Have you not received the letters we've sent you?" Then proceeded to give me an inaccurate address; when I said I didn't live there, they switched to my correct previous address. Seems aweful fishy.

- Mustang5451 replies to TiffanyBY federal law they have to idenity themselves..They also have to send you something in the mail about what they are trying to collect on..I've had that, no answer from several toll free numbers. and of course no message left..Lately just people trying to get me to take a free cruise that I earned staying at their hotel. If you don't leave a message how am I supposed to know who you are. With collectors once you called, they have your number off their caller ID..and they go looking for that number..They can find your family, neighbors, co workers, your employer, etc.I used to be a collector and what these people are doing is illegal by US federal laws..
- DancingGatoThey call 1 minute apart for several tries and leave no VM. Today they called my employer to have me call them and would not identify themselves. I finally took a call and it was from State Collections about a medical debt. They do not approach this in an ethical manner though.
