We are getting calls repeatedly from 866-266-1445 saying they are Verizon Wireless and we can call them for help in paying our bill. We do NOT have a Verizon account!! When I call the number back I get Verizon Wireless and they tell me THEY are not calling us because our number is not in their system. How is this possible when I call the number back and reach their Customer Financial services??

I knew this was a scam and I told "Mario" that because my account is autopay and I was just in my account on the website and you have the incorrect amount that the website shows and it is not past due. I asked him for his last name - he said "it is against company policy to release that information". I asked for the call back number and he said "well you called me". No I didn't, I answered your call because of the annoying messages you've been leaving me the past few days. He hung up.

    You people are stupid.
This isn't a scam. It's a legitimate Verizin Wireless number, specifically for financial services, an INBOUND center, that does payment arrangements and processing payments for accounts.
Don't have an account?  Then somebody might have messed up with a CBR (can be reached number), and all you have to do is simply TELL THEM YOU DON'T HAVE AN ACCT.  Here's the tricky part: hanging up the phone only makes you look like an ass. If you hang up, they lose the number, and then cannot go on the system, look up the number, find the account that has that number as an emergency contact, AND THEN CHANGE IT.
Also, reps cannot give out certain information. It's personal info... why would you do that? Do you ask Bob from Best Buy his shoe size?
Think about how things operate, and then think about the people on the phones are people, too. Not scammers; just workers who happen to be treated poorly, and all they are trying to do is set up a [***] payment negotiation so your phone that you haven't paid since three months ago works.

Caution. Do not give cell phone collection companies ANY information before confirming: Ask THEM for the name/address of the person they are trying to reach. I guarantee, it is NOT you. Companies such as Verizon and T-Mobile are handing out burner cells without checking client details. I was hit with a $993.55 bill for a phone I never had. Such mail theft and credit card fraud is because of sloppy practices of these organizations. I began receiving collection letters from a group named Convergent Outsourcing in Renton, Washington and sourced that back to T-Mobile. When I complained to T-Mobile (which is owned out of Great Britain), they were uncooperative. Because I've worked in real estate, I was able to track the bogus T-Mobile account to Merced, found a photo of the burner-cell-owner's house, contacted the FBI and my local police. All were VERY cooperative. Before I could contact my bank, they had already seen something was amiss, froze my accounts, called me, fixed it, and said they have a fraud division and DO follow up on such fraud. (If your bank doesn't protect you in such a manner, get a new bank.)

IT IS A SCAM -- Unfortunately, even Verizon isn't bright enough to realize that. Companies such as Verizon and T-Mobile are handing out burner cells without checking client details. I'm sure they do not care if it's fraud -- such companies have insurance and are running the system.      Received a voicemail asking me to call Verizon Wireless Financial Services at 866-266-1445, which is the correct number.  I had terminated my account 10 months ago, so we should have had nothing to talk about.
Financial Svcs. couldn't come up with an account for me, so I was transferred to Customer Services.  As I'm not a customer any more, they couldn't get my name off the "call" list.
Don't miss them, not for a minute.

    Don't call this number back,..

the real number, which I just got and used from calling Verizon's CS from their official website is 1-800-528-7594

Call the CS number from their real site,..they will give you this number,..so you know it is official and not some phishing scam. never call numbers from paper bills,..too easy to forge,..do your research.

They are getting braver. They are trying for "mail fraud".  I just got a snail mailed "Verizon" disconnect letter referencing the 866 phone#. Some people must be following for their SCAM.

So I recently moved to New Jersey and I keep getting a call from 201-448-8180. The first time I answered it took me directly to Verizon wireless customer service. I spoke with a rep explaining I don't have a Verizon wireless account. He said he did not call me I was like yes you did. Why would I just be calling you guys for no particular reason. Long story short he says block the number, which I did. Now after blocking it I'm still getting calls from another number similar to this. They leave a voicemail saying that they are attempting to collect a debt. This is a scam people, be very aware. It's outrageous the lengths these scammers would go to take people's hard working money, just go and use your brains to make money in a honest way
