Called my mother in law and gave personal information about one of my husbands accounts and told her she could issue a warrant and that they had the right to storm my home because we are not cooperating with them, when I called back their automated system said "if this is an emergency call 911" then wanted me to record my name before they transferred me to the extension i was calling, of course no answer and when this lady, using the name Amy Stevens called me back she threatened me and told me my husband had five minutes to call her back or she was going to do something, not sure what since she never really said, but I asked what company she was calling from and she refused to answer me and finally just hung up on me.  The message when I called said I had reached the General Investigation Unit, anyone have any idea how I can find out where they are from and get some info on them so I can complain about them to attorney general and bbb?  They are breaking privacy laws and also telling my mother in law they were some kind of police officer is illegal I believe.

Better Business Bureau has issued a national alert about phony debt collectors that are calling consumers nationwide and claiming that they have defaulted on a payday loan and will be arrested if they don’t pay immediately.

Claiming to be lawyers, the scammers say they are with the “Financial Accountability Association” or the “Federal Legislation of Unsecured Loans” and often have the victim’s Social Security, old bank account numbers or driver’s license numbers as well as home addresses, employer information and even the names of personal friends and professional references.
