I am too. I received a letter from what looks like American Airlines that says I've "qualified for an award" of two roundtrip tickets to anywhere in the world and I need to call this number.

The call is a scam.  There is no business named "American Airlines".  The scammer will trick you into giving him money for taxes or insurance or some other fake reason.  Or he'll ask for a credit card to identify you.  He will spend all of your money.  He will never give you an airplane ticket.


American Airways is a legitimate company.  It is not related to this scam in any way.

Got the scam letter offering the free trip and saying they'd tried to call. With no return address, addressed by hand, and just American on the lettteread, I knew it was a scam and will take it to my post office, in case they have a fraud investigation underway or want to start one. The letter is signed "Jen Meade, Vice President." Does anyone actually fall for this stuff?

I received the same letter, dated June 17, 2013. Figured it was a scam. Hope anyone who receives this crap, researches it first, before calling and getting scammed.
