- Billy| 2 repliesThey are calling me as well. Stating a file number and I need to coordinate a delivery with them. Weird they are calling my mother and asking for me.
- Angelina replies to Billy| 1 replyThey're calling me too. Showed up at my work when I wasn't there, and haven't tried to deliver anything to my house. When they leave a voicemail, they never identify themselves. Which is the first thing they should have done. Shady that it's an 866 number
- Adam| 7 repliesDont know who they are...they have called saying that i must call them back in 24 hours and then give a reference number but dont state who they are....funny thing is i dont owe any company or anyone
- MindyShe called here at my work asking to speak to my manager or supervisor. I told her that I no longer work here. Then she calls my cell phone. Her name is Camille Gonzales and it's imperative that I call her back at the office. She states a file number and that this is time sensitive and that if I don't call back then they will make a decision on my behalf. Funny how they don't tell you the company they are calling from and their number was blocked on my work phone and the number 1 came up when she called.
- CHERYL replies to AngelinaThey have done the same to me as well. I have no idea who this is or why call my job n ask my employer questions. They lied to my boss telling her that it was for unemployment benefits which doesnt make sense. If they have papers deliver it to my house or have a Constable or Sheriff serve them.I find this suspect.
- Stacythis number calls and it says Private Number. they left a message for the first time today. say i need to call within 24 hours and if they don't receive a call they will assume this is my number? they left claim number and said the documents need to be signed for and if they cant reach me at home then they will come to my job. all i can say is they better not come to my job......
- KrisI had a call today at my work, they said they had documents that need to be signed for and that they did not like bothering people at work, but could give me no other information. They gave me the 866 number and a reference number that I could call if I wanted to change my deliver point and that I had 24 hours. No clue what it is about, it's not local obviously so I'm going to ignore it.
- StevieThese people are calling repeatedly and always a different name of caller
They try to make you accept unknown documents Sometimes a shrill voice yells warnings about not getting your documents.- Caller: Unknown
- TrishGot the same message as those above. If it's something that I legitimately owe, they can find me at home. They call my boss, I call more than theirs!
- Caller: No name
- Michael C.Aletia Gomez, please call this number.
- Curtis CarlsonDidn't answer call from 516-308-0523, Wantagh, NY, but the message 'Bianca' left sounded like a collection attempt. Called back 866-269-2331, got 'Consumers First'. We have gotten calls for an unknown person before (same first name as my wife), but the person mentioned never lived here, we've had this address & phone number for 20+ years. Told them to remove our number from their records, 'Bob Wells' sounded offended but said he'd do so. We're blocking the 516 number.
- Caller: Consumers First
- Call type: Debt collector
- Bev replies to Adam| 6 repliesThis happened to me aswell. They called my brother and left a message saying they would concider this as they tried to contact me. And Said I Had 24 Hours To Call Back OR Further Action Would Be taken. Never Said Who They Were OR WHAT It Was about. Glad I'm not the only one.
- Tygerkat replies to Bev| 5 repliesDon't waste your time calling these scammers back. No process server calls in advance and they don't offer to let you pay your way out of being served, which is what they will offer if you speak to them. They'll tell you you have an unpaid debt and if you don't pay them NOW you will be arrested. IF you speak to them I recommend against it), demand they mail you proof of the debt - email, fax, and phone call are not legal methods of notification.
- bev replies to Tygerkat| 4 repliesThank you. I appreciate your reply. I don't plan on calling them. I did believe that they should mail you proof and should state who they are with and what it concerns. I feel much better.

- Tygerkat replies to bevYou're welcome. Glad I could help.
Not only SHOULD they mail you proof of the debt, IT'S THE LAW. If they are legally able to collect the debt, they need to legally prove it.
Good for you that you won't call them back. They can't scam you if they can't speak to you. - BigA replies to bev| 2 repliesTygerkat has given you good advice. Too add to it:
They call family, friends, neighbors and/or places of employment (past or present or both) to create panic and embarrassment so that their intended victim calls them and they can scare that person into paying their extortion money.
This is a common ploy by criminals masquerading as debt collectors who are attempting to extort money from people by scaring you into believing that you will be criminally charged, go to jail, lose your driver’s license, have wages garnished, be sued, and a variety of other variations on this, all for an alleged or nonexistent debt. One of the tricks they use is to call your work place, friends, or relatives repeatedly in an attempt to shame you into paying. They also use the “process server” ruse who calls and claims he is going to serve you, but then says you could avoid it by calling another number
Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter (US MAIL ONLY) postmarked within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. It also must contains “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes. The one other important thing that this letter must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.
