866-269-7571

This is a scam operation.  I was searching for a specific website and presses the wrong letter.  A pager came up on my iPad with this phone number saying that I had a virus and that I need to call this number (1-866-269-7571) which is an iOS tech support immediately for assistance on how to remove the virus.  Otherwise, all my data on my iPad will be at risk.  The voice was of an Indian guy.  He said it would cost me $99.99 to clear the virus.  I hung up after that.  Please be aware.

Just heard from the same Indian guy. I got a message on my computer screen saying it was from Microsoft and I had a virus. Contact Microsoft immediately. Again, for $99 He would take care of this for me. He asked for credit card number. DO NOT call this number! SCAM!!

Browser pop-up with same scam message. Had to use task manager on laptop to get out of it.

Received flashing computer message that my computer had been hacked after entering sensitive information on Air Canada web site.  Flashing message told me to call  this number.  Indian sounding guy asked for online access to my computer indicating he was a Microsoft tech and that he needed to fix my computer.  Several indicators tipped me off that this was 100% bogus.  Do not call.

Shame to the phone company making a profit by being accessories to a felony.   First, they get a web name similar to a legit Microsoft site.  Then, they try to block your browser (fortunately, they are stupid and you unlock everything just by rebooting your computer).  Next, they try you to pay them ransom.  And when they fail, they call you several times from an "unknown" number, until you get tired and you block them forever.    It is time to write your congressman or congresswoman so that attack to the weakest people (older people, etc.) does not go without punishment
