I was given that number as a fax number by an E*Trade support person, after calling their 800 number.

Same here. It should be an E-Trade fax number.

I got that same fax number given to me from E-trade also. Now E-trade says it isn't one of their fax numbers.
What do we do now?

Also given to me as Etrade fax number and told to fax a copy of my social security card.  Scam?  That's sensitive information that I don't want in the wrong hands!

I got a request from a person at E-Trade... maybe. They requested a copy of my S.S. card (front and back for some reason), a copy of a recent bill, since my "addresses didn't match", he said. Also, a copy of my drivers license. This was regarding a "Secondary Account Restriction", he stated. Gonna look into this much closer before sending anything.
