I also got an automated call just now, same as Steve telling me someone had been trying to call me collect and couldn't because my service provider wasn't set up for it, and that I should call 866-295-2563 to get set up to receive them.  Sounds like a scam to me.  It showed up on my callerid as anonymous, no number or name information.

I received a phone call from the same 1-866-295-2563 at work and was told the same ting that Charles in TEXAS was told and I immediately googled the number and found this information.  I am glad to know that I am not the only "CAUTIOUS" person out there.

I called that number after hours and left my name and number telling them that I'm very interested in their service.  Oh, by the way, here's the information I left:

Got the same call yesterday on my cell.  First part of the voicemail msg was cut off but it did say something about the Corrections Call Center, so I'm assuming this call is originating from a jail or prison.  Scary thing is my cell has been missing for 3 days...

I got the same phone call as all of you. It is crzy how every day someone else is getting that call and looking for more info. on the number. Mine too said a correctional facility. I was under the impression that someone I knew was in jail but and was attempting to figure out what was the state of origin for the number. Th number called my cell; so to determine if this is a scam can people in prisons call cell phones? Also, to all those who have left a comment and all those who will did they call your house or cell number?

yes it is the result of someone trying to contact you from the correctional facility. I was expecting a call...we were not sure if it would work...this is like a courtesy call/or warning...in my case a courtesy to tell me my friend tried to call me but my services do not handle collect calls so they offer you to set up the sbc prepaid phone card so that the inmate can call you....good for me...not good for those not expecting it...be careful.

My brother is in jail and I guess he was trying to call my cell phone. Right now, we dont have a house line, house burn down...no real home...anyways...I'm hoped it work....but after reading this, maybe it wont. I won't even try, cause I would assume inside the jail they would let them know how family can get a contract with SBC Global.

It is a collection agency. They are afer me and my wife. We haven't paid our rent for over 18 months and over 8-9 months for our credit cards.  They are calling at home, works and on our cell phones.  Thanks God we opened a new Chase Visa last week and we are going to sunny Puerto Vallarta renting a condo on the beach for 2 months next week.  Hopefully, they will not call us in Mexico as we do not plan to pay for the rental while there.  Hola!
