While using the Edge Browser in Windows 10, my computer was hacked and a message came up to call this number for a fix as though it were from Microsoft Windows.  Hmmm.  Kinda doubt that.

I got that message on a Facebook link.  I did not call. Probably a scam!

What did you do to get rid of it?

This popped up on a Windows 7 system (twice), with the message "Your Windows Computer has been blocked, system alert".  Call this number ("Windows System Alert", "System may have been infected due to unexpected error! Please contact Windows Support") to unblock your computer. Suspicious activity. Your browser might have been hijacked or hacked"

i doubt it too, supposedly malwarebytes or some form of Norton

if that message is popping up then you have a malware or virus and i would suggest getting malwarebytes to clean it

You are beyond an idiot...I use Malwarebyes and this never happens to me. Check your facts next time! Norton doesn't do that either-it's called MALWARE, and MALWAREBYTES DELETES such things.

I got that message on blue screen (i do use malwayre app.) and i called that number which rang many times and then i hung up and shut down my dell with win 7 and then started up again with no problems!
So then googled that tel# and got to this site.  Have had a few tel calls from someone who thinks i need help with pc!  I hang up immediately--also hang up when caller does not quickly identify himself.

Malwarebytes has not been very helpful... I've been scanning for malware/adware with it for a few days now.... results are always "OK, no problems found", but I just got the Bluescreen a few minutes ago, with the notice to call- 866-296-9137.
I'm sure it's a total scam.
I've tried scanning with  Windows Defender, Windows Security Essentials, Norton, Advast, and Malwarebytes. and other programs.... nothing works at removing the virus/malware embedded in my computer.... anyone have any suggestions?
