- baumgakGot a call from a Mary who said she had to discuss a personal matter with me. I don't know who this is. I don't plan on calling back. My phone number is unlisted and if she can't give me the name of the company, I don't call back.
- fyrefly1985received a call from this number - they had my full name & claimed to be from a local hospital at which I have seen a doctor. They couldn't pronounce the name of the hospital correctly, which was the first red flag. Then she asked for my date of birth and SSN. I refused & she gave me a number to call back 1-866-299-9289. I called that hospital directly and they have no record of the person who called me, no problems with my paid account & no record of contacting me for any reason. Don't know who these people are, but yesterday I received a call asking for the same information from a company at which I have no account. When I refused then, I was told I'd be called back until I complied. I have nothing in collection, so I'm sure it isn't a collection agency.

- bbb| 2 repliesI received a call this AM and had "Out of Area" on the caller ID. With all the political camPAINing going on I don't answer the phone much anymore. There was a message left which was close to what (baumgak) said in one of the previous posts. My first action is to search the internet and found this page. After reading the above posts it reminded me about a bill I received via snail mail from MO Baptist Medical Center of an outstanding $100 balance the insurance co didn't pay (Now there's a surprise). When I found the bill it had this return phone number on it. I had called them before todays "Out of Area" call and explained I would contact the Ins Co and find out (whatever). Apparently it is a centralized company used by several of St Louis area Hospitals. They are a ligit co that goes after unpaid medical bills. If I were you I still wouldn't give out a SSN over the phone. I'd say to go ahead and call and find out what they want as this is probably the step just before unpaid bills go to a collection agency.

- KAT replies to bbb| 1 replyI received a phone call today from this same telephone number. They claim they are calling on behalf of one of BJC's hospitals. They indicated they are owed money, but I've only gone to the hospital they are talking about once (the ER) in the last year and it was completely covered by insurance. They claim I need to verify information, because they've tried mailing me the information but it came back as having gone to the wrong address. I asked them what address they sent it to, and they'd only tell me the city. I told her BJC wouldn't have the wrong address for me because I worked for the BJC system until recently (which is true). I ended up hanging-up on the caller because I had a bad feeling about it. Never give out your personal information people!
- marie replies to KATI recieved a call today they left a message and the funny thing about it is they said they are with the hospital I work for. If the hospital needs to get hold of me all they have to do is look up my extension and call me at that extension. These people need to get a life and quit trying to scam people.
- bellaSomeone named mary called me from this number on my work line. I was unavailable so the receptionist sent her to my voicemail she just said to call regarding a personal business matter. I returned her call immediately only to be told that representatives were with other customers and to please hold (via recorder). After holding for about 5 minutes I gave up and disconnected the call. What I find peculiar is that on the voice recorder telling people who call to hold they do not once say the name of the company or what their services are. A recorder just picks up and says "I'm sorry all of our representatives are helping other customers at this time please hold for the next available representative." It was really bizarre.
- JPThey have called 4 times and let it only ring once. I tried to call back and was on hold for 7 mins then got hung up on. Out of the 9 missed calls from them, they have only left one voice mail.

- aggravatedI called it back and finally got someone to answer after about 10 min of holding. It was a person named Mary and she said the name of the company she worked for is "First Source". She says her company works for the collections dept. for St. Louis area hospitals. But the funny part is she she went on to tell me that the account from the last time anyone in my family was there had a ZERO balance, but if I wanted to give her more "personal" information she would see what else she could find out. I told her I would call the Hospital myself and handle it.

- KelleyThese people are calling me at 8am every morning on my cell phone. Then call me often throughout the day including evenings and weekend. I don't understand why. I have no balance in collections. I'm not giving these people my social.
This is the first sign of a scam. If they start calling you, then don't you give them personal information. Check your credit report or call the company or whatever company they say you owe and pay them directly if you owe them money.
They should not be asking your social security number. If they were a legit credit collections agency they would have that information already. Also, make sure you actually owe a bill. Billing mistakes happen all the time, and unfortunately, these billing companies can ruin someone's credit for their mistake. Be a smart consumer and look at your credit report. You get a free one every year.
Now, how do I get these [***] to stop? I don't owe anyone anything and pay my bills. It's not right these people can harass you when you've done nothing wrong and pay bills.- Caller: Norman Regional

- mamThey call and either hang up after 1 or 2 rings so that they get credit for saying they have tried to reach me with no luck. And this morning they left a message saying this message is for Mary and hung up. ABC counseling has been trying to collect a past due bill from ME rather than fill out the paperwork that the insurance co has asked them for several times. After spending at least 30 hrs on the fone attempting to get this matter resolved.. even hosting a conference call w/ a willing agent at the insurance co.. explaining to them the form they need to fill out..( oh and this place is a provider of the insurance co) there have been NO results. Also they did not even bill me correctly to begin with. They are not even able to do that part right.

- CherylThis number continues to call and we do not even answer.
- JKeeps calling for a person who is NOT at our number for some health care center .... there were two different numbers that kept calling - I called one and told them to stop, they have the wrong number ... but then ANOTHER one showed up, asking for the same person (on voice mail, we never answer it!) ..... this is so annoying ... I don't even know how they got our number!

- DocThis number called our house too. Apparently this "Mary" is an incredibly hard worker or this company is misrepresenting themselves. Can there really be that many Marys working the lines? My thoughts are to call the hospital and waste their time responding to my call. There are other legal issues and they have the appropriate phone numbers.

- JoeOlga told the wife she was in the "Follow Up Dept" & said we owed $1300 even though we had made payments, she also said she worked IN & AT St Anthony's Hospital in St Louis. Called hospital & they told us we were up to date & they had NO "Follow Up Dept". Talk about an all now low, stealing through the hospitals.

- btwood2| 1 replyIt may be legit but they are not being entirely honest. This was concerning a bill about a $500+ lab services charge for my mother at Tulare District Hospital in Tulare, California. The blood/urine (?) had been sent to their lab from the nursing home my mother was residing in, about a week before she died (at age 98 after suffering multiple strokes).
I had tried to resolve the bill by calling the phone number on the bill, and could not get through despite multiple attempts; left 3 messsages on their voicemail. Called hospital directly and was informed that all their billing is now being outsourced to an agency in Illinois. Said someone would be calling me that day.
Four days later I was called by Rachel from this number, who claimed to be calling from Tulare District Hospital. She took the needed information (insurance numbers). She said their should be no problem collecting the bill now that they have this information. I asked why hadn't they just gotten the insurance info from the nursing home. She didn't have a satisfactory answer.
I requested verification once the bill is paid that the account has been closed. She gave me the name of her boss, Janet, with another toll free number with an extension, to call since she said she (Rachel) cannot be called directly. I should call in 30-45 days. She also said if the bill is paid, they do not send out paid in full statements.- Caller: The Patient Account Department
