- moIt's a scam for sure... Threatening my family.
- Rohit Singh| 2 repliesCall from IRS threatening to arrest me for fraud.
- Caller: IRS
- Slim replies to Rohit Singh| 1 replyThere is a fairly common IRS or "tax scam" being practiced by scammers in both Canada and the USA.
USA tax payers should read this:
http://www.irs.gov/uac/Tax-Scams-Consumer-Alerts
Note particularly the links at that site, warning of the scam!
A shorter explanation is Scam #11, as shown at
http://phonehelp.2truth.com/facts.html
That site also shows how other 800notes visitors have reduced the number of telephone scams and telemarketing calls they receive. (And, a link to Amazon's phone blocker devices and apps is there). - Rohit Singh replies to SlimThanks
- Jim SandersGot a call from them at home and at work claiming to be from the IRS and that they would send a warrant for my arrest unless I called 866-338-7767. I know this is a scam and badly wanted to call and give them a piece of my mind but I thought the call itself might be exactly what they wanted and I somehow end up with a charge.

- Call type: Telemarketer
- AnonymousJust got a call from a Shawn Stepler threatening arrest or summons to a federal claims court, with a request to return the call. Very noisy call center and strong Indian accent didn't match the name. Avoid returning calls!
- Anonymous| 1 replyThey just called my cell. Knew my SS# and home address. They started yelling sexual explortations at me. How can they get away with this?

Next time, let it go to voicemail/email and forward the voicemail attachment to phishing@irs.gov from your email account. That's what I did. - Pissed offSome prick called claiming to be an IRS agent and threatening to arrest me for tax fraud. Or at least that is what it sounds like. Between the accent and background noise it is a little difficult to figure which I am being threatened with. This is like the tenth call left on my home answering machine. Is there a way to stop this??? It is highly annoying.

- Anonymous replies to SeanI also got a call from this number. IRS Tax Audit department from Sean Stifler with an Indian accent. Same script -- tax audit, u owe taxes, pay us before it goes to Federal claims court and possible arrest. First of all, IRS only communicates by mail. Does not ask for money by debit card or wire transfer. Last time, I checked we were in the US. Not just any idiot can call and threaten arrest.
- AnonThis guy just left a message on my voice mail with the name Tim Harris. When I called back the same voice and accent had another WASPy name. The threatened me and my family that a criminal lien is against my home and federal agents will be at my home in 45 mins due to unpaid taxes. I told him to send the agents as I have never committed tax fraud and I could smell the fake as IRS only sends communications via writing.
- Caller: 1866 338 7767
- JoeMessage left on my recorder from a Jim Morris (heavy accent); could not understand nature of call except saying I could be arrested by county officers and threatened with a federal tax lien...Legal Tax Audit, received legal claim and other jubberish.
