Someone claiming to be named Angie Martinez identifies herself as representing Telecheck Recovery Services.  She states that the check we gave to H&R Block for our tax services did not go through their electronic system and that H&R Block gave our information to Telecheck Recovery Services to collect the money.  We contacted H&R Block and their district supervisor says she never heard of Telecheck Recovery Services and that if we have a receipt showing payment, then we owe them no money.  We have both the voided check and the receipt for payment.  Watch out for this scam!

I got the same type of call from this number yesterday. A lady saying her name was Angie Martinez saying that a check from TSC had been returned. She had the wrong bank, wrong bank account number, wrong DL, everything was wrong. I believe it was a scam to get my correct banking information.

Same thing happened to me. I went round & round with Ms. Martinez explaining that I paid by check and it had cleared. In addition I called my local office of H&R block and they told me I had a zero balance. Ms. Martinez and I conferenced called my bank and I found out that my check did not clear. I then contacted corporate office of H&R Block and found out that Telecheck is their warranty company and the reason I was told I had a zero balance by the local office is that Telecheck had remitted payment under their warranty, not that my check had gone through. She gave me a main number for Telecheck and I found out that Ms. Martinez was right and the money is owed. Oops.
