Received a text from this number that appeared to be nothing but an attachment (331K in size, probably a virus).  Clearly I'm not going to open attachments from unknown numbers, I wouldn't even look at the text, the size on the attachment without anything else in the text was enough to make me delete the text without looking at it & block the number.  I'm just hoping that the attachment didn't get loaded on my phone when I received the text, despite not looking at it...

Before deleting the text, I decided to do a scan through Norton to make sure no malware had gotten on my phone from it

    Received a text from 1-866-366-1881 @ 5:02PM on 09/16/22 with the following:

Quest Diagnostics: Hi, AARON. For your convenience, Quest Diagnostics is contacting you with the mobile phone number you provided so you can review your account and pay your bill online. Please click here to begin: https:// mydocbill.com / ?u=1493369155. For billing questions, chat with a representative during business hours using the link or call our 24/7 automated phone attendant at 1-866-254-3859. Please reply STOP to discontinue text messages regarding your bills from Quest Diagnostics, and to receive a paper statement. (Sent by Zotec Partners)

First off, I don't have any dealings with Quest Diagnostics, I'm pretty certain I would've received something in the mail, too, because medical entities don't mess about when it comes to getting paid. Second, Quest Diagnostics might not be using mydocbill.com to process payments; being a sizable company, I'm also certain they'd have their own payment portal set up on their own website. Third, mydocbill.com seems pretty lazy as far as names go so that was suspicious from the start.

Reported the text message and number, then blocked. Please don't call any numbers, click any links, or respond to texts like this from numbers you don't  know because that will signify to a scammer that your number is active & receptive to scam messaging/calls. Always review these types of messages for off clues. If you have dealings with a company, verify directly with the company.

Seems to be a lot of confusion so I decided to look into it.  Putting the search term "who does quest diagnostics use to process their online payments" I came up with this page:  https://www.questdiagnostics.com/patients/bil ... n%20your%20bill.

    Quote:
    Online billing portals
Quest uses several billing portals to serve our patients. Depending on the time and location of your service, you may complete the bill pay process on MyDocBill.com/Quest or QuestDiagnostics.com/bill as directed on your bill. If you are unsure where to pay your bill, please start at QuestDiagnostics.com/bill.

I received a text or email with a link from MyDocBill.com. Is this where I pay my bill?
Yes, you can pay your bill online at MyDocBill.com/Quest. We are transitioning to a new online billing portal at MyDocBill.com/Quest. You may now receive billing notifications by text, email, or a new paper bill format. Please use the link in the text or email to pay your bill. Also, if you received a paper bill with the lab code ZOT, you can pay your bill online at MyDocBill.com/Quest.

Same as others..."Your online statement for services recently performed by Quest Diagnostics is not available" with a link to mydocbill.com and a phone number to call: 866-254-3859. The call-back number has been previously reported as a scam.

Also, I looked up patient Customer Service on Quest's website, and their phone number is 866-MYQUEST (866-697-8378). There is no reference to an automated phone payment system as a payment option.

Your "research" is flawed as there is a reference to the other system.  The proof was posted on 10/5 in the post right above your post.
