Lady called me saying she was trying to keep a civil case from going to court against me. When asked for the direct number to the company supposedly filing said case she told me it wasnt up to them any longer

This fraud and collection company said I had not paid a debt I had with a check loan place back in 2009. Westgate arbitration is the name of the company. They won't take a western union payment, but want a 16 digit payment credit card number. It sounds very fishy, but they do have a lot of good information to persuade you,

This is a scam!!! Anyone (like "AmyP1255") is either stupid, works for them, or is extremely naive! After over a year of these calls (their company changed names), and "Leonard Barnes" from "Third Party Locators" claiming he is coming to my job or home BY THE END OF THE BUSINESS DAY and that "he just got papers from the court" I got fed up. #1 my loan was insured and still paid! #2 if "third party locators" is so legit, then why are they calling from fake 800#s with the next set of digits an area code in ASIA!!! #3 this "this party locators" company is NO WHERE ON GOOGLE!!! NOT ONE COMPANY BY THIS NAME, NO ADDRESS, NO PHONE#, NO LEONARD BARNES!!! #4 I searched the court records for Westgate Arbitration being the plaintiff AND defendant in all major courts, and guesses what? NOT ONE CASE!!! I then called the DA's office, where the lady said I CANNOT be prosecuted, and this sounds like a scam, I then called an attorney who was a former prosecutor, he said the SAME THING, and if they cannot give you your original check and contract, then do not pay them bc after they "settle" with you, any other company can come back for the remaining balance. He also said any company that won't let you pay them by check is a fraud! You know why? Because a REAL PERSON would have to go into a bank, show their face on camera, have a real identity, get fingerprinted, etc. Also I called the CORPORATE office where my loan was, they are not even the people who bought it! He furthermore told me that they do not give anyone my original check or contract and that my information is in their warehouse storage!!! I am going to have my info pulled since it is paid off so that ME, MYSELF, AND I will be the ONLY PERSON with my contract and check!!! The corporate office also said that if I look at my contract, it says in big bold letters that I cannot be prosecuted over this debt!!! So after finding out that information, and then searching the BBB website where I saw that once you ask for verification of the debt, they suddenly "fall off the face of the earth" with no response, I called them...and guess what---"Oh I'm sorry", you must be mistaken, we are not calling about a debt, I'll be happy to explain this situation and give further information and verification of your debt...GUESS WHAT? NO CALLS SINCE AND NO VERIFICATION OF THE DEBT EVER SENT!!! WHOEVER PAYS THEM ARE FOOLS! I have a background in finance, collections, skip tracing, and criminal justice, and yeah I was laid off so I couldn't pay the loan that I got to help my little sister, but these idiots use EXTREME TACTICS to SCARE you into paying!! I also called the county courts ALL DIVISIONS criminal, civil, the bad check division, etc. NOTHING FILED AGAINST ME even though "Leonard Barnes" had "JUST GOT THE PAPERWORK FROM THE COURT"...DO YOUR RESEARCH PEOPLE BEFORE YOU BLINDLY PAY ANYONE!!! THINK ABOUT IT, WHAT INFORMATION DO YOU ALL HAVE ON THEM BESIDES AN ADDRESS THAT IS IN A VACANT BUILDING AND AN 800# WHERE THE PEOPLE ARE NOT EVEN IN "NEW YORK" AND WILL NOT GIVE YOU THEIR WHEREABOUTS AND ADDRESS? It makes NO SENSE for a collection company to buy loans for PENNIES ON THE DOLLAR and spend hundreds or THOUSANDS of dollars litigating a stupid ass pay day loan in court! Even if they DO happen to take you to civil court and charge attorney fees, which by the way, ("westgate arbitration" can never give the amount or an itemized statement for these charges, or even tell you what they were or will be!), if you don't have assets, then they get NOTHING, you WILL NOT be ordered by the courts or the judge to pay them. If they "won" then they just "won."-ON PAPER, and this came straight from a former prosecutor and lawyer where these idiots are claiming "they filed my papers at"...which reminds me this is not even on my credit reports (checked all 3 bureaus)...you cannot be prosecuted criminally for a post-dated check for a pdl...a loan is not goods and services in exchange for a check dated for and presented the same day, therefore it cannot be prosecuted, and this is straight from the DA's check division!!!! DON'T BE FOOLED! A pdl company gives you money; you give them a postdated check, because they KNOW you DON'T HAVE THE MONEY. This is not an exchange that can be prosecuted. You did not give them a check dated the SAME DAY you took their cash!! If you did, you would not need a loan, am I right???!!!!

Cross-reference this # with: 347-348-0611. Both #s keep calling me & asking for "Kathy Mobley". I have had my # for at least 7 years & have no idea who "Kathy Mobley" is.

They called me and left a voicemail regarding my "case #" and when I called back spoke to a Jose Merano. Told me I they were an arbitration company trying to keep my Civil Charges from turning into Criminal Charges. Thank you for your comments and posts confirming that this is a scam. Can't believe they had me second guessing myself.

This whole arbitration thing is the line that debt collectors have been using over the last year. They harass everyone you ever put as a reference on anything credit related. They all need to die in unending grease fires.

I received a call the other day from a private# from a guy name John Jones said I have 72 hours to call (Westgate Arbitration @ 877-484-7035) or else they will be serving me papers to my home address. He also gave me a case# says he is calling from a third party collection from San Mateo County. I don't know what this matter is about. Can someone help.

Yes they need to be sued what they are doing is illegal. I am considering going down to my local police department to file a report against them.Then reporting them to my attorney general office, The FTC and FBI if enough of us do this they will be investigated like the guy from California that had people In India working for him he was caught by the FBI doing the same thing. These people will be caught if enough of us file complaints with all our local agency's and governments. What these people are doing is illegal they are violating the FDCPA and impersonating a processing and summons official which is a Felony. When they call they always say there some type of local summons company contacting you on behalf of the Plaintiff which is always a different company name today they said Mediation Arbitration but left the number for Westgate Arbitration then they've called me from the same number they called from today and have given me a number to a company named Mutual which all leads back to WESTGATE ARBITRATION I have a lot of evidence against these people. They will be caught. If they are calling you they have access to your credit reports I had a guy from there reading off stuff from my credit report such as addresses and other stuff to try to intimate me. Please put freezes and alert all the credit bureaus about this. THEY NEED TO BE PROSECUTED.

I also got the same call from a John Jones, left several similar messages, gave me court #...checked with Cameron county court both criminal and civil and nothing...it is definately a scam.

Very strange, getting calls now from someone harassing everyone that was on one of cell phone bills - how do they get this information?  They claim they are from Sterling Resolution.  Looked up their website lol 2001 Niagara Falls, Blvd., Amherst, New York.  Very peculiar because received call late last year from company called Westgate - they are scammers verified by my attorney  at see below:

Interesting how strange they now call themselves Sterling.  Who are these whack jobs?  Call from spoof numbers and then connect.  So has anyone else received Sterling - 8888976121  or 6012551855. Their address per website is the same as above.  I'm in process of checking out if vacant building too.  A lot of these scammers use buildings/office for sale or lease and have mail sent there and intercept it.  They think they are smart.  NOT.   So watch for this new scammer.
