Received call from this number for about the fifth time this week, one time at 8:43 pm EST.  Most of the time I am not home when the calls occur but the last time I was.  The phone rang ONE time and stopped.  My answering machine did not pick-up and I was the only one in the house.  When I called the number back it was a billing agency of some sort for hospitals mainly in the western part of the US (Washington area).  I've never been further west than Kentucky, much less have an outstanding hospital bill from Washington.  The lady asked for my telephone number and then asked me what number I had called her at.  Very strange!!!!  She informed me that she has heard of this happening over the past few weeks and that they were not making the calls to me.  Whole thing seems very, very odd!

Hello - I'm an employee of the health care company located in Washington State that Jess called back.  There is another company unknown to us that is autodialing home numbers in the Central and Southeastern US and they have erroneously programmed their Caller ID to display with one of our toll-free numbers (I found this post by googling the 866 number.)  We have been receiving calls like Jess' all month and hope that whoever it is that is doing this realizes their error soon.

If anyone who receives one of these calls from this 866 number and is able to determine the name of the company that made the call (all we have been learned so far is that it is some sort of telecommunications provider trying to sell service) please respond to this post with details.

I received a call from this number claiming to be from the IRS filing a lawsuit. It’s very clear that this is a scam and if they are spoofing this 800 number, if in fact the number is a legitimate business.
