My husband called the supposed company pressing charges and was informed this is a scam. Please do not give Allen Taner spelling could be different do not give him any information let alone any money. They all sounded American to us we also talked to a lady named Susan she answered the phone than transferred my husband back to Allen Taner who no longer was interested in talking to him since he called the company supposedly coming after him got check fraud and garnishment. Allen Taner ended the call very quickly. Always call the company these scammera are saying is going after you.

Wrong advice.  Make the debt collector follow the letter of the law.

It is incumbent upon them under the law to prove that the debt exists and that you owe it, and (this is the important part) that they have the legal right to collect it.  You are not obligated under the law to prove that you don’t owe or that it is paid.

Federal law (FDCPA) requires them to send you a letter, email, or text (postmarked in the case of a letter) within 5 days of their first contact that contains their name, physical address, the creditor’s name, and the amount of the alleged debt. Unless they have communicated it to you verbally at the beginning of your conversation.  It also must contain the “mini-Miranda” telling you that it is an attempt to collect a debt and that all information will be used for those purposes.  The one other important thing that this communication must also have in it is that you have a right to dispute the debt within 30 days of receipt of the letter and if you do so, all collection activity must be stopped until the debt is verified.  If and when you get that communication you should immediately send that debt validation letter by certified, return receipt mail.

First, you should make a complaint at this Federal Agency, and while there you should also read up on how debt collection is supposed to work as well as what your rights in this matter are: https://www.consumerfinance.gov/

Also file complaints with the FTC: https://www.ftccomplaintassistant.gov/#crnt&panel1-1

Also file a complaint with your State Attorney General's office.

Send a text to my sister saying I need to call them with a legal matter left the phone number and a file number. Call them they had all my information and told me that I owed $1010 for a payday loan in 2015 which I never took out. Told me if I didn’t settle this matter right now it was $9000 if she took me to court or I can make a one time fee pay of 425 right now. Complete and utter scam

Received text message saying "We have an important legal matter that directly concerns you. Call us directly at 866-384-1637 and ref to file #65437. First of all they used my maiden name which I haven't used in years which automatically tells me its a [***] call and I don't respond to this crap because I've been scammed before 15 years ago with a similar call. If it's that important they can mail you a letter discussing the matter. Eff off scammers!

Got a voicemail from these clowns stating they were location services and that they were looking for me.  Hmmm, let’s see, they called a Maine number, and I live in Maine.  It shouldn’t be hard to figure out!

I also received this text - was from a different number - 480-992-6595, but the instructions were similar.  Mine also didn't use my correct name, but the message said "Barbara Peralta, This is our 2nd attempt to notify you about an important legal matter that directly concerns you.  Call us directly at 866-384-1637 and refer to file # 69172"  Thank you for the warnings above - I will definitely not be calling these people back and will block the incoming number.

Same as all above.  Didn't call them despite this being their "2nd attempt" and spelled my name incorrectly and used my maiden name instead of my married name!  Idiots!
