- ANGIE replies to jacqueline| 2 repliesI also received a call from this number (at my work) stating it was Goldstone Associates and wanted to verify my place of employment so they could serve me. They wouldn't tell me what for. But also earlier in the day I received a call from a Mitigation company called JAA (James Aldwell & Associates) stating there was a credit card I supposedly never paid from 2007 so I am in "Breach of Contract" and owe $6,000 with interest and penalties. When I stated I have outstanding credit and this was never on my credit report she said I probably just didn't monitor it at that time but if I read the fine print on a credit card when I signed up I would see that it states I'm in breach of contract if I don't pay these charges. When I asked for documentation she said "it had been previously sent years ago and they have my previous addresses to prove it was mailed but no documentation since they are just the mitigation company and if they go back to tell their client they need more documentation it would prompt said client to move forward with legal action. Then a few hours later is when I received this call from "Goldstone & Assoc." about serving me with papers. It sounds fishy, like a scam but I cannot confirm our deny. Just wondering if anyone has actually been served. Thoughts?
- VeeI also received a call from this number stating they were calling about a credit card that I owe from over 19 years ago and saying I’m get my check garnished or my taxes taken by a judge….. when I said the statue of levitation in New York is three years the man got highly upset and insulted me and said deal with the judge and hung up the phone on me didn’t let me say or ask any questions ….
- Caller: They say the celling from Goldstone & Associates
- Vee replies to Ella| 1 replyDo you know if this is real or a scam ?

This is the work of one scammer. There are no papers. No one is coming to serve you. What they said is a not so veiled threat to scare you into paying what you do not owe.Quote:When I asked for documentation she said "it had been previously sent years ago and they have my previous addresses to prove it was mailed but no documentation since they are just the mitigation company and if they go back to tell their client they need more documentation it would prompt said client to move forward with legal action. Web Searches for both James Aldwell & Associates and Goldstone & Assocaites do not turn up addresses for companies with those names. Sort of a red flag. - MThis is so much more complex than I think any of us know. The goal of which I don’t understand just yet. I would love input from my experience…
Someone called and left a voicemail (two different days, two different people) looking for a family member of mine (using an old name of this relative from like 15 years ago). Both calls were from different local numbers (likely spoofed) and directed me to call back to this 866 number. This seemed odd for a scammer (leaving voicemails and operating a toll free number to call back to?) so I decided to call them back “restricted” (*67) and asked why they were calling me. The guy didn’t give much info other than they are looking for a family member of mine and the Goldstone law firm info everyone else is talking about. It sounded like he was using a voice changer to disguise his real voice. I asked for his name and he said “Tom.” I asked “Tom what?” and he said “Tom Tom.” He got rude when I pushed too much about where his law firm is based out of (he would only say my state’s name but not the city) and what they need info about my relative for. He somehow knew my name (despite calling restricted and me not giving any identifying information first). What stopped me dead in my tracks was when he stated my SSN. Number for number. Like wtf?? He said, “You’re so sensitive. You’re (my age) years old — I would have thought (parents’ names) would have raised you better than this.” It’s like everything about me was pulled up when I called, even though they supposedly just need info about a family member? He never asked me for money, so I hung up having no idea if I’m the target or if my relative is the target. I mean they have my SSN already somehow, so I don’t get it.
I later called the family member they were looking for. They stated receiving a call earlier in the day from a local number too (with their area code since they live in a different state). Normally they don’t answer calls they don’t know but they were expecting a call from a job interview so they answered this local number. They used my relative’s old name from years ago, said my relative had missed a court date related to a debt that was owed from ages ago, and to call this same 866 number in 30 minutes to get more information about how to move forward now. Before ending the call they said, “You’ve been served.” This relative also stated they don’t even know my SSN, and I’ve also never co-signed anything for them. So these scammers need to know how to get in contact with my relative, but they already have. And my their cell phone number is relatively new too, but they only have an old name if theirs for reference. So much just doesn’t add up.
My relative reported this to their local sheriff’s office, and was told not to call the 866 number. Now I am expecting a call from their sheriff’s department in the coming days to add my side to all of this.
This seems like a new scam and I am confused of the goal. Am I the target, or is my relative the target, or both? If the intent is to get money, this sure seems like a lot of work for them, especially since they already have a ton of sensitive information about us.- Call type: Scam suspicion
- KSJust a voice mail on this number stating there was a lien on my property and to call them... This number originated from the UK.
- Caller: Could not understand with accent
- Call type: Debt collector
- Goldstone and Associates replies to EllaThis POS is trying to long con some sucker into "settling" a "lawsuit" before it goes to court. Ask them their address. A real law firm would have no problem giving that information. If they make something up ask for their bar ID number. Also if you are this scammer just a suggestion but you should kys.
- Keisha replies to ANGIEI also received a call from James Adwell and associates about a payday loan from 2014 that I know I never had. They couldn’t tell me any information about how the creditors were or anything. I reported them to FTC
