I get 2-3 calls a day from this number also and they never leave messages.  I tried calling the number back but there is no answer.

twice a day. hang up immediately when answered. doubt they earn money when people answer these calls. but looks like I wasn't charged extra money. anyone knows where this call comes from?

Have starting getting calls -- about once a day -- with immediate hang-up. Called ID shows # but no other info. When will it end?!

Update... I called the number, and actually it seems legit; a woman who answered said that since I had recently been approved for a citi-mortgage loan (true), this was a "courtesy call" welcoming me, or something to that effect. She gave a different number (800...) to inquire further about my call. Strange that I and others have experienced silence at the other end, or hangups on answering machines, from the original 866 number, but at least in my own case, it was not just a random telemarketer or something similar.

I have been getting these calls for 3 days now, once or twice a day, only rings once or twice then hangs up, if i try answering no one is there.  I have not tried returning the call but similarly to Oy I recently closed on a house with a Citi Mortgage Loan.  Still I'm very confused by the hangups...

I have been getting 3-4 calls per day from this number for the past few days.  I have also recently closed on a house with CitiBank.  You would think they would leave a message if they  are calling for some legitimated business purpose.  I will continue not answering the phone if this is the way they do business.

I have the same annoying calls from this number.  I also just recently closed on a home and citi mortgage is the lender.  I hope this isn't the start of 'great' customer service.

My mortgage was recently sold to CitiMortgage. I got those calls several times a day, at different times every day. No messages left. Now I'm getting calls from another 866 number with the same pattern.

Smae deal as evreybody else,  I called the number back and yes, it was Citibank.  Just closed on a home, buy didn't think the loan was with them, They agreed to put me on their do not call list.  we'll see..

Same as everone else (calls & closed on a mort. loan with Citibank).  Have had problems with them in the past pertaining to CONSTANT mail from them.  Be on the look out!

I too have been receiving these calls, and also recently closed on a mortgage which was acquired by CitiMortgage. More annoyingly, when I answered the call, it hung up on me. *rolls eyes* Classy.

I phoned them back & after just a few seconds, was put through to a human. She apologized and told me it was a courtesy call informing me they'd acquired my mortgage, and welcoming me. I replied that yes, I was aware, thanks ever so, and would they please stop calling me now?

So, the rep took my number and allegedly added it to their do-not-call list. I'm interested to see if this works for a company who has legitimate business with me, but is nonetheless calling me for no real reason.

If I ruled the world, a person's mortgage company wouldn't phone them unless they had something to say, or there was some sort of dispute or issue. So, vote for me! Or something.

i just got yet another call from this same number, but this time there was actually a HUMAN on the other end.  she was just welcoming me to citi mortgage and needed my email address (although they should already have that, no?).  i told her about my getting numerous calls and no one ever being at the other end - also told her about this online message board and that we folks are getting annoyed- in a nice but monotone voice she said she'll report this info ... let's see if it actually happens.  i agree with you AB "if i ruled the world..."

I have been receiving these same calls and called Citi Mortgage.  They said that phone # is not affiliated with Citi Bank and is a telemarketer.  The woman I spoke to at Citi said they would look into it but my guess is they have little direct control over it.  I would advise not giving any information in a call with this phone number.

Follow up: They resumed calling me, after having claimed to put me on their do-not-call list. Since their system hangs up when I answer, so far I've only gone so far as to roll my eyes when this happens. My eye-rolling muscles are now in top form. Score!
