- Detroit| 2 repliesThe call is originating from the Detroit Medical Center billing department.
- Caller: Detroit Medical Center
- Call type: Debt collector
- J replies to DetroitWhen you pick up to answer they immediately hang up which leads me to believe they do not want to discuss your account, just send it to collections.
- HI too have been receiving calls from this number. I do not pick up as I don't know the number. No message is ever left. Google search led me here. I will be following up.
- Caller: not provided by caller
- HVerified it is DMC Billing. The person who answered admitted their system automatically dials out to customers. (I was treated for an injury 5 months ago and any bill should have been covered by my insurance, so I'll have to look into this. The lady wanted to know my account number, which of course I didn't have to hand since I've just been trying to find out who is calling ME. She made no effort to locate my account by any other means, like my name.) I let her know that it's poor public relations not to at least leave a voice message. Apparently she didn't understand that because when we ended the call, she did not disconnect and I heard her relating the info from our call to someone else in the office, and then the two of them giggling over it. Then we were disconnected. I will be following up with someone above her.
- birchmanSame thing. I got this call and no message was left. Like the others said it must be from DMC Billing. Why are they calling since I just got the bill on Friday?

- MariaI have never been to DMC in my life - I am getting calls - No Message - I don't answer unless I know the number, however it is very annoying to get at 8am !
- DonGot the bill on Friday, Got the call @ 4 PM on the following Tuesday. I tried to answer and the machine hung up on me around 15 seconds into the call. So, I called back. I waited to talk to someone and expressed my unhappiness regarding this. The woman tried to tell me that they call to make sure we got the bill.. Oh, yea, and to make payment arrangements if we so desire. I told her that I do not expect another call unless I become very late with the bill.. I owe them a small deductable out of a 27K bill. The rest was paid by insurance.. Let's see if they call back next week....

- Annoyed DailyI get this call DAILY, mid day (during 3 month olds nap like clockwork) everytime I answer it it says "please hold" - 30 secs later I get a LOUD ANNOYING disconnect sound. No clicks (nothing that sounds like you are about to be connected, silence then disconnect repeatedly.
This is VERY annoying as I have a 3 month old that wakes up when the phone rings, and our phones need to be ON for family and work reasons.
A quick google search found this page and I am gonna have to talk to wife see if we have any bills with DMC or whatnot so I can be prepared before calling DMC and complaining about how to stop this daily call, if they call I just wish they would BE THERE or ANSWER the phone to tell me what they want!- Caller: DMC people are saying
- RobertThey keep calling my cell phone even after they were notified that this bill has GONE to bankruptcy several months prior. They had an account that had been marked that it had gone to bankruptcy, yet they needed the bankruptcy papers again for EACH account.

- Mommy1This phone number keeps calling me every day Monday-Friday, usually between 7-8am. Everytime I answer it, all I hear is music blaring loudly in my ear. It pisses me off and I hang up. With a baby who wakes me up every 2 hours, I'm already sleep deprived as it is.

- Logically Thinking| 2 repliesUnfortunately no one likes to be be billed. However, when we are sick we want fast and effective treatment to help us get better. Hospitals services cost. If your insurance does not pay the bill, the patient will be bill. I commend a company that sends a bill and then call to verify that the person received the bill. Many people will complaint that they never recieved a bill and are now with a collection agency. Others are complaint because they received the bill and a courtesy call is made to make sure you received the bill. Go figure you can't please everyone. Bottom line is healthcare is not free and in order for it to be available when sick people need it those who have received services have to pay their bills.
- No, really replies to Logically ThinkingOf course healthcare isn't free. You have to send bills because payment is not collected at time of service. Sending bills while the patient still remembers the service (say, within a few weeks at most) gets expenses paid. Calling and hanging up does not lead to collections. Nor does an unwillingness to let the patient pay the bill. It probably costing them a fortune in unpaid bills and collection costs.
- Gwen replies to DetroitI replyed to a missed call from this number. The initial answer was a North West Bank recording, then a transfer to a utility company recording, from there to a comcast recording. DMC can go to hell as far as I'm concerned!
- cinnamon replies to Logically ThinkingI pay all my bills. In the last 4 years I have paid out over $9K, due to not having any insurance. Employers don't offer insurance much anymore. You get the collections and lawyers calling regarding a bill you are paying because they say your not paying enough. I hope and pray that you keep your job with your insurace and never have to be without it and see how you r treated. It is the greed of the haves in this country. Go to the emergency room and see how much it cost when you have no doctor of your own. Every dog will get their day. Hope your wife and children are healthy and never ever need to to be in the hospital or get emergency services. I've know people who had to sell their home to pay medical bills that the hospital or lawyer says is not what they want. If a person is paying leave them alone and let them pay. A person like you got a good bonus to bring stress to a family of a sick person. I know your real proud of yourself.
