Stating Mr. Stern has not heard back in regards to a statement I made and my case was being forwarded to the states attorney office. Never said who the message was for. I called back the number no answer just a voicemail stating you have reached the fraud department please leave a message and someone will call you back. Just a few weeks ago I also got a call from a lady saying I was being arrested for writing a bad check and if I didn't pay there would be officers at my house within minutes. - CWG40They call themselves Jackson and Jackson Law Firm. But there is no Jackson and Jackson law firm that I can find. These people are scammers big time. Long history on 800notes.com. Go to the index page of this site and enter Jackson and Jackson, you'll get a lot of entries detailing how they debt scam. Don't fall for it. Ignore their calls, block them and do not pick up on calls you don't recognize.
* File a complaint with the FBI on their Internet Crime webpage http://www.ic3.gov/default.aspx
* File a complaint with the Attorney General for the state you live in
The more information and complaints there are, the better the chance of getting these criminals to stop (or at least reduce the frequency). [abstracted from another site]
They continue to bother you, tell them you are going to the police to make a complaint of extortion.- Caller: Informational post

- Wayne| 2 repliesMr Sturn saying I did not fill out the paperwork and file going to be sent to States Attorney. Discussed with States Attorney office, they do not handle small loan matters. Probably a scam.
- Alfalfa replies to Wayne| 1 replyThe Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:
•is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
•refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
•asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
•exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.
If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
•Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.
•Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.
•Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.
•Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.
•Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.
http://www.consumer.ftc.gov/articles/0258-fake-debt-collectors - Misserinn32Got a voicemail from me stern didn't say who it was for about a case. Called back woman answered, ask who this company was she said it didn't matter, asked my name (only gave her my first name) puts my on hold comes back states my full name, date of birth, and full social security number and even said what health insurance company I have. If you got a call from this number call one of the credit places and put on fraud alert. Going to the police tomorrow.
But from the sounds of this it's fraud. She told me that she was a law advisor and by calling back she is going to okay the supena for a loan I took out back in late 2012 or early 2013. And that I am going to jail for owing over 1700$ and that they have proof they gave me money and even listed a bank account number. Had to call back and ask what company it was, same answer jackson law in Atlanta, GA. Some scary stuff, don't just ignore it make sure to protect your identity.- Caller: Jackson law
- VLSI received a voicemail from a Mr. Stern, stating that he was going to file charges on me for theft by check and have me arrested if I did not call him back. I called back a Mrs. Janet Starr answered and told me I owed $1721.17 for a payday loan taken out in the beginning of 2013 and that a letter had been sent out last week, yeah right. I starting asking questions and all I could get out of her was the original balance was $390, the rest was interest and that the company I owed was Everest. I informed her that I wanted all the information she had and that I wanted to know who the original loan was with. She emailed me a letter showing that they are with J & J Law Group, P.O. Box 513, Atlanta, GA 30301, phone number 678-999-1315. In the letter was also the number 866-441-6797 ex. 302. Well I did some research and there is no such company, call information for a number on them and no number, they looked up the 678 number and no listing for that number. Can't pay someone who doesn't exist. I will be sending a certified letter with signature requested and return receipt asking them for the amount, the name of the Company I owe.

- Cl Fl| 4 repliesReceived a Call from MR BAILEY. About me not replying to an earlier State Mandate. Turning my case over to State Attorneys unless I call back.
- mt replies to Cl Flgot same phone call told me same thing
- suzi Q replies to Cl Fl| 2 replies9/9/14 at 5:30PM - I just got a call on my cellphone from Mr. Bailey. He said I did not respond to the papers I received two weeks ago ((I got nothing!)). the number was 866-441-6197. When I tried to call back, it was an answering machine and they asked for your case number which I never received and it answered "Fraud Division". Mr. Bailey stated in my voicemail that since I did not respond to whatever, he is turning over my file this afternoon to the Attorney General's office. At no time did he state what this was for, he was an American sounding man, not an Indian or foreign voice, commonly used in scams. I am clueless as to why nothing can be done from receiving these calls, I have Verizon and I am on the "DO NOT CALL LIST" and yet I still get these crazy freakin calls. Do not give out any information, especially any money. In this country, you are INNOCENT, UNTIL PROVEN GUILTY! BE CAREFUL@!
- JillReceived a call from a Mr Stern. As with previous reports, he did not say who he was calling for, but I had not responded to the statement and that the paperwork will be forwarded to the state attorney's office. Had a similar scam attempted to be pulled years ago regarding "payday" loans that I had supposedly cashed; same type of voicemail. Blocking this number through my cell provider
