    Depending on when you ask them, it's Westfield Portfolio Management or Westfield Management Group. The short story is, they're not a legitimate collector and break numerous laws. Protect yourself, lock your credit.

    Asked them for a physical address to send correspondence, they gave me the address to a post office. They They hang up, abuse people over the phone, anything to get you to blindly give them money. They call family, abuse THEM, and then - when you call - insist that your family just, out of the blue, called them.

    At any given moment, they threaten the U.S. Marshalls, a District Attorney, etc, etc... and, of course, they'll sic them on you unless you pay right then and there. You refuse? You get a call in a week - again, they're just about to send you over to the DA....

    Fake fake fakety fake fake fake.

    They didn't call me, I called them. It seems they changed their method of operation.  I received a phone call from phone # (360)529-6195. Caller Id  gave name as "Lottery Dept.". It sounded like an elderly woman, who had a problem pronouncing my name. She said that 2 attempts to reach me failed and an agency was looking for information and that I should call the number in question to get more details.  She ended the conversation by wishing me good luck. NICE TOUCH.
    The 360 area code is listed to a cell phone in the Washington D.C.. Seems like politicians aren't the only ones who are crooked there.

    They keep calling my job requesting a supervisor for job verification. Stating it's very urgent, they are saying they have documents to give me. My supervisor told them that the line they're calling on is recorded and an emergency line. They would have to contact me at home. They told my supervisor that I gave the number as a home number. The first time calling my job, they left the name of Max Gomez. Unable to reach when I called the number back. They are not professional at all. Some lady answered the phone, "hello" no buisness name. When I asked for the name of the company, she hung up.

    I got a call on my cell phone from them two days ago, from an Unknown number.  They stated that a process server would be delivering documents later and would someone 18 years or older be home.  After asking a couple of questions to the caller, I found out she was calling about an elderly woman I worked with four years ago!  She gave me this 866 number to call and a case number.  When I called to set them straight, I got an answering service.  I opted to not leave a message there, but rather, one here.

    The Federal Trade Commission (FTC), the nation's consumer protection agency, is warning consumers to be on the alert for scam artists posing as debt collectors. It may be hard to tell the difference between a legitimate debt collector and a fake one. Sometimes a fake collector may even have some of your personal information, like a bank account number. A caller may be a fake debt collector if he:

    is seeking payment on a debt for a loan you do not recognize;
    refuses to give you a mailing address or phone number;
    asks you for personal financial or sensitive information; or
    exerts high pressure to try to scare you into paying, such as threatening to have you arrested or to report you to a law enforcement agency.

    If you think that a caller may be a fake debt collector:
    Ask the caller for his name, company, street address, and telephone number. Tell the caller that you refuse to discuss any debt until you get a written "validation notice." The notice must include the amount of the debt, the name of the creditor you owe, and your rights under the federal Fair Debt Collection Practices Act.
    If a caller refuses to give you all of this information, do not pay! Paying a fake debt collector will not always make them go away. They may make up another debt to try to get more money from you.

    Stop speaking with the caller. If you have the caller's address, send a letter demanding that the caller stop contacting you, and keep a copy for your files. By law, real debt collectors must stop calling you if you ask them to in writing.

    Do not give the caller personal financial or other sensitive information. Never give out or confirm personal financial or other sensitive information like your bank account, credit card, or Social Security number unless you know whom you're dealing with. Scam artists, like fake debt collectors, can use your information to commit identity theft – charging your existing credit cards, opening new credit card, checking, or savings accounts, writing fraudulent checks, or taking out loans in your name.

    Contact your creditor. If the debt is legitimate – but you think the collector may not be – contact your creditor about the calls. Share the information you have about the suspicious calls and find out who, if anyone, the creditor has authorized to collect the debt.

    Report the call. Contact the FTC and your state Attorney General's office with information about suspicious callers. Many states have their own debt collection laws in addition to the federal FDCPA. Your Attorney General's office can help you determine your rights under your state's law.>

    I have never had any issues with the above company.  I had a legitimate debt and they settled it with me. I didnt get harrased or hung up on and the person i talked to was very proffessional.  I guess with any company there are a few bad apples but over all my experience was a good one

    I have received numerous calls from 1-877-684-7857.  They are under the Westfield Portfolio Management out of California.  They are very rude, would not let me talk.  Threatened a lawsuit with huge attorney fees and wage garnishment if I did not pay immediately.

    I am trying to find out if they are legitimate.  Thanks for the information on this site.  I'll follow some of the suggestions.

    This company called me with the same scare tactics to repay a payday loan.  She said that they were in the process of filing charges and I needed to immediately set up a payment plan with them which stupid me, I did.  They have already taken over $400 out of my account and I still have payments set up for another $600.  In researching the company, I decided that I was going to call them to get more information.  Now when I call the number they gave me 855-347-3739 I get a recording that says "calls from this number are not authorized".  I have tried all of the other numbers I can find for Westfield Portfolio Management and when I call they are all a recording about winning a Wal-Mart gift card.  Does anyone have an updated phone number for them?  I don't want them taking anymore of my money!

    Contact your BANK, and have then stop all disbursements to this company. Tell the bank you have been scammed and that this is FRAUD. They might be able to recover your money for you, but will definitely block any more money from leaving your account. Print out a copy of this thread and take it with you!
